Urogestran

Hi ladies. Happy on oestrogel 1-2 pumps daily and utrogestran every other day.. last scan endometrial lining 4.5 mm.. stopped urogestran for 3 days just to see if bloating would reduce and a bleed would occur.. Absolutely  nothing.. Do I recommence urogestran and presume that my lining is insufficient  to produce a bleed ??? Any info would be  useful . :)

You post got missed!

Yes just carry on with the utrogestan. When you take it continuously if it is working then you won't get a bleed and oestrogen and progesterone are balanced.

Lou Lou, do you take the Utrogestan orally?

I was wondering whether when you take this vaginally you lose all the other benefits on breast and bone health..

Taken vaginally, we absorb more progesterone.

That's good to know Birdy..

Taken vaginally limited research shows that more is absorbed systemically from vaginal insertion of the same dose of progesterone compared with oral intake. Also as far as I know there is no benefit to bone health from progesterone (but please post links to scientific papers if you have read this!), and in terms of breast health - there is some evidence that it (progesterone - or rather certain progestogens) has the opposite effect ie can  be linked to increased risk of breast cancer.

Hi Hurdity, I read a study the other week that stated progesterone can build bones and muscle by stimulating osteoblasts (bone-building cells) and can also stimulate the growth of new muscle. Bone health is really important to me as my mum suffered with Osteoprosis.

I found this quite interesting which is why I was wondering whether taking Utrogestan via the vaginal route would have the same beneficial effects as oral consumption.  X

Slightly off topic, but look at boron for osteoporosis, Tracey E. My mother uses ionic boron drops, and magnesium.

Hi Birdy, I take magnesium but never heard of boron drops but I will give them a go. Thanks. X

Tracey..Hi,am 58..not sure  how many years post menopausal as had mirena coils x3 over a period of 15 years for menorrhagia...only when coil was taken out 4 years ago were the hot flushes 30+ a day and night sweats up to 12 a night unbearable.  Oestrogel  1-2 pumps a day and alternate days of vaginal urogestran  has made my life brilliant in every dept.!!
No breakthrough bleeding  since this regime started 3 months ago.
Was on sequential previously but found  bleeding every month a pain.
Only issue ,is I've put on half a stone..so just eat less now to maintain weight..but progesterone is steroid based so weight gain probably is normal.
There is evidence that micronised progesterone (urogestran) is the least likely type to cause breast cancer.I am a retired clinical specialist, so the amount of research I  have done is rather excessive!!!..but it is my body and I  want to look after it ..lol.
Hope this is helpful.

Tracey..keep in touch, let me know how you get on...I initially tried patches but wouldn't stick as as was so clammy all the time!! This regime suits me fine now...no joint pain, better mood so am told lol ,no indigestion (due to oestrogen levels) sleep like a log.. If you can persevere, it will  be worth it .
