Easter pre dates Christianity and was originally a pagan spring festival, hence the eggs etc,. Just like Christmas it was high jacked by the early church.

Like everything else it's now an excuse for money making.  ::)

You're spot on.

We do absolutely nothing now.  Sons are adults, so no eggs and no grandchildren yet.  I avoid buying cards for anything, if I can help it.

I might buy myself some chocs though.  ;D

How long have you got  ;D

We have to visit Mum's property and do some gardening.  We also have to visit Mum  :-\.  Home on Sunday via an antique fair.  Years ago DH bought me eggs, huge ones - that would sit unopened for months  ;D.  I kept the boxes for years.

I have a lot of cards which I prefer sending to C.mas ones ........ if I can remember to find the apparopiarte list.  Appropriate even.

We avoid Bank Holidays by travelling a couple of days prior and coming back mid-Sunday morning ;-)

Yes we always do something! I love an excuse for a celebration and family occasion and see no need for bah humbug although I don't hold with commercialisation and have never sent an easter card in my life! Nor am I religious though was brought up as such. Unless we are away abroad which we sometimes are, there is usually an offpsring or so who come back and lovely to see them. I always cover the kitchen (where we also eat) with flowers with lots of daffs and primroses on the table (oh dear most daffs are over this year!). Oh yes I usually put come sort of chocs or little eggs on the table - nowadays just small amounts of good quality home-made choc, despite all the offspring being in 20's or 30's. We all paint our boiled eggs with flowers and then turn them upside down in the egg cups when we've eaten them so you can see the painted patterns. Then we always go out for a long walk for the day somewhere on the hills taking a picnic - sometimes the weather is freezing and we've had hail and snow so we have to warm up with hot choc in a cafe. When we come back I cook roast lamb. There will be 6 of us this year including partners..... :)
