I was still having regular as clockwork periods at 53.

Its realy interesting to hear your views on this ladies.

It might be worth mentioning that Carol.has been quoted as saying ". 'I didn't have any of those hot sweats and all of that kind of thing" .  So may be worth bearing in mind when it comes to evaluating  her statements on how quickly a "little bit of gel"  changed her life

The effects on mental health of menopause for some of us cant be overstated in my opinion and i believe its vital to talk about mental health. If she says she had no other symptoms then who am I to disbelieve her. I'm glad for her that she didnt  But in the wider picture,  I hope it's not the fact that  maybe talking about MH has (thankfully)  become less of a taboo whereas  in the Peter pan airbrushed world of showbiz where women are constantly sexualised, talking about a dry vag or peeing yourself may still have a way to go!!

I've got nothing against Carol. She looks amazing.  Although please don't dismiss the other meno symptoms as "all that kind of thing". Carol!!!

Speaking generally,  its business. If someone is flogging an anti ageing face cream and then admits to a facelift they might see the end of that contract. The companies know of course but when the shit hits the fan as it did with Fern Brittain it's the celeb who takes the financial fall.  So there is an incentive for them to deny surgery whether by ommision or downright lying . Usually I would say  It's up to an individual what they chose to reveal about surgery.as it's a private matter but when it comes to celebs  attributing certain products to their looks and its realy the result of surgery then that's a bit more than  disingenuous in my opinion.

Xx.

As an aside those dry vagina adverts by Jenny Eclair make my blood boil - like there isn't anything else to treat vaginal atrophy with!

Hello again ladies.

Carol Vorderman has also said that her symptoms made her feel suicidal, adding that she didn't say that lightly. She claims that it was thinking about her children that made her seek help. She became a patient of Professor Studd and has found Oestrogel HRT to be very effective.

Obviously some celebraties are promoting products but to remain employable they need to take out insurance policies that guarantee their health.  The business of show and all that!

Whatever the agenda it is useful to have women talk about their menopausal struggles as this normalises the situation and helps fight the taboo.

Take care everyone.

During my research today, I came across an article that said Trinny Woodall puts her youthful looks down to hrt. 🤣🤣

I also had regular periods at the age of 54 and went onto HRT for the reason I couldn't sleep and had horrendous aches and pains.  On another note, I remember some years ago a photographer took a photo of Carol with her face bandaged up and according to an interview she gave on the subject, she fell down the stairs. At the time I found it interesting that she emerged post bandages with a much younger face.  It appears therefore we need to take HRT for a young and lifted body, take krill oil (remember her adverts for that) and throw ourselves down the stairs to look as good as she does at almost 60.

Hello again ladies.

The problem is the celebs have to have a story to explain their change of appearance but they don't want to reveal the truth.

I remember when Fern Britton began losing weight and she said it was because she now had a dog and was walking him every day. When it emerged it was due to  gastric surgery she took a week off work to let the fuss die down. Btw what's happened to Linda Robson? First she was overweight then supposedly gave up wine and became slim then had some emotional /health issues and was off work  for a year but has now come back and is overweight again. The programme made a big deal about her losing weight but gaining weight isn't discussed which is a shame as it may be relevant to her return of health and would help other people.

Bit of a divergence there ladies, hope you don't mind.

Wishing you all well.

 Birdy I would be with you there making the most of my assets!!! I can say being on HRT has made me look 10yrs younger (yet) but as others have said a helping hand has been had by most of these celebs. x

She was one of the celebs who made me realise I was in peri and for that I am grateful. Like many people (including my gp) I only knew about irregular periods and hot flushes neither of which I had. I did have many of the symptoms she had though so I absolutely believe her about them. If only hrt would knock 20 years off my looks too...

We'll, I do not believe her. I'm also not liking the sound that I'm not believing anyone else and this is t true so yes people here still had or have periods into their fifties but Vorderman is t one to be trusted due to her omitting the surgery she has etc. I think she's had extensive work done so if she can lie or omit some things, I'm wary of her still having periods at 54. So it doesn't mean I don't believe anyone else. Ok? Good.

I feel wicked saying this but I'm really surprised that everyone here thinks she looks amazing.  :o Maybe I'm looking more at her style but she seems to dress in an overtly sexual fashion, which does suggest low self esteem, where you believe getting sexual attention will validate you.

So I have no bad thoughts towards her and feel a bit sorry for her if anything.

I agree Dangermouse, she's very 'out there' with her fashions and seems to be trying to hard. I also don't think she suits her hair blonde. A few years ago she looked fabulous but she's definitely had some sort of work done and doesn't look natural anymore.

I actually think it's very damaging when celebs say their looks are down to a certain product. I remember Posh Spice suddenly getting huge boobs and saying it was from having kids and Kylie saying her youthful looks were from Nivea cream. Us women should be sticking together, not making each other feel worse about themselves because someone 10 years older looks 20 years younger than us without any surgical help.

I very much doubt Carol's looks come from a tub 🙄

You don't like her so you don't believe anything she says, that's fine, you're entitled to your own opinion. This post shows that many women have a later menopause

Celebrities are in a bubble.  One that is often pushed by product manufacturers.  Also they tend to jump on the 'topic of the day' so when menopause pops up - same with Jenny Eclair and her dry vagina advert ........  >:(

Hello again ladies

Krista 65 - those of us who are posting about our later menopause are just letting you know that it does happen that way for some women. It's impossible to know if Carol Vorderman is telling the whole truth about her menopause and other treatments and if she is suggesting that still having regular periods in your fifties makes you more youthful that's just silly.

Wishing you well.
