Hi team!

Just a quick ask and update!

So I'm six weeks into bhrt, I'm peri meno at 51 and no periods for 5 months prior to starting hrt.

I was put on low doses of both Oestrogel(I take 1 pump every other day)and Utrogestan(100mg 14 days vaginally)Didn't have a bleed on week 4...meh!

The low doses I think are due to my mum dying of BC age 50. Least that's what I think as my gyn never said or inferred this at all.
He was more an obstetrician than a meno expert. Not sure he had much of a clue re-dosing of hormones for meno, and at that point neither did I. His instructions were for 2 pumps Oestrogel twice a week and 100mg Utro orally, plus a thimble full of Testogel daily....yikes! Haven't started Testogel yet and won't take that much obv, but I rest my case re gyn and dosing.

So no prizes or surprises that on such a low dose of O some of my original bothersome symptoms are back.
I won't bore you all with listing them, needless to say It's page 1 stuff/symptoms we all know and(don't)love. :tulips2:

So I'm thinking of upping my dose of Oestrogel to one pump a day. After all I started the whole hrt thing to alleviate some of the worst symptoms. Also the reason for going on gel form hrt so I can have autonomy over doses for my own particular health/symptom issues.
Worth saying at this point that I am under no illusions that hrt is going to sort/fix every peri meno symptom I have, it's not a miracle drug. But the main ones which it did help with initially is what I'm now chasing.

I could ride out the rest of the month and a half to get to the 3-month mark on this exact regime. I wasn't told this by my gyn though and neither do I have a follow-up apmnt. Quite frankly I'm left wondering what good an apmnt with him would actually achieve, as he didn't seem to be a menopause guru, in fact far from it. My GP is lovely but clueless re hrt so no faith in getting any help from him :(

So here I am. Don't get me wrong, I'm not asking anyone here for their permission, wouldn't want to put that on anybody.
Just some direction, and to ask what you would do in my position.

Any words of wisdom would be golden.

 :thankyou:

Morning!  Can't help as I don't take HRT.  Maybe put the product name into the search box and see what others have tried?   :foryou:

The whole lot is 🤦‍♀️ a thimble full of Testosterone daily dear me 😱 is he trying to get you to grow a beard & possibly even testicals.

I would either find an accredited menopause expert or the normal is oestrogel toe pumps daily, and utrogestan either daily at 100mg or 200mg for about 12 days some do 10. Orally or vaginally.

The testogel sachet should last you 10 days a small peas worth a day, it last me 20 days as I am very hormone sensitive.

As my gynae says a little knowledge is dangerous ( this was aimed at the medical profession on twitter BTW ).

Re mum & BC many ladies can and do take HRT when mum has had it, & ladies who have had oestrogen recpeptive BC as it's all about “ informed “ choice. 😊

What caused your Mum's breast disease?  It may not have been related to hormones at all.  Many years ago my Mum had a breast removed due to a lump found on mammogram and no other treatment.  She's now 92.

Maryjane LOL testicles indeed! Big hairy ones at that, wink!

Love the quote "A little knowledge is dangerous!" so true. And informed choice is where it's at, thank you for your help.

CLKD Your mum is a trooper, 92 wowee! As for my mum, I didn't get told much re her cancer as I was only 13 when she died. The adults kept info from me to protect me I guess as I was a kid. Not sure family would have known to ask if it was hormone related BC, it was back in the 70'S where ppl were less involved in there own health care compared to nowadays.

Thanks girls

Hia girls!

So I've decided to up my Oestrogel to one pump a day. Wish me luck!

To keep the night sweats away which are causing broken sleep again. The pesky sweats returned but less of them after a good month on one pump O every other day. Still taking 100mg Utro vaginally for 14 days. Does that sound a good balance between the two? I didn't get a bleed last month which was my 1st month.

Like many here I'm on my own re-dosing etc. No aftercare in place whatsoever. No checks or guidelines/parameters.

Any feedback would be grrrreat!
