Children in care
« on: March 17, 2019, 09:16:03 AM »

Watching Gareth Malone working with the children affected by the Grenfill Fire - he was talking to one very quiet lad who had been fostered since the age of 2.  In and out of various placements due to various difficulties with temperament.  He had joined the choir then disappeared from school completely.  It turned out that he had suddenly been moved from his foster placement where he didn't feel part of the family [his words] but did feel safe: to a placement 2 hours journey from the school.

It wasn't told how his journey was taken: Taxi, buses, trams, trains ........ but what was the sense of that and he still attending that School?  He said that again he felt un-settled, which affected his ability to concentrate or make friends because he didn't see the point in joining in because he never knew when he would be whipped away elsewhere  :'(

He spoke quietly.  Extremely well for a 14 year old with huge difficulties behind him.
