Went to pick up my 6 months prescription of Angeliq HRT tablets, they only had 5 months in stock and told me there were problems with the manufacturer so I emailed Bayer who make them to find out what the problem was and have just had a reply saying they were discontinued  on January due to commercial reasons.
I have been on Angeliq for nearly 2 years and have been brilliant on them felt like I had got my life back. I originally started hrt for flushes and was put on elleste duo conti,3 months on it and I suffered from really bad depression, anxiety and insomnia,came off it,went on kliovance and the same thing happened,after a lot of research on here decided to try Angeliq and after a few mild side effects hit the jackpot and have felt really good ever since.
Now I feel I'm back to square one what do I do now ?
I'm terrified of going through the depression and anxiety again and the return of symptoms if I stop hrt all together(I've heard symptoms can come back worse if you just stop taking it)
I also don't know if the depression was caused by my own hormones or the progesterone in elleste and kliovance as I've read on here a lot of women don't get on with it.
There seems to be a lot of hrt treatments discontinued or having supply problems just now that I really don't know what alternative I could ask for.
There is nothing similar to Angeliq as far as I can see.
Does anyone have any ideas what I could try? also my hair shed really badly on elleste but grew back a bit on Angeliq so would need a hrt that's kinder to hair.
If I didn't have to work I would probably try and come off HRT all together, I'm so worried that the depression will return last time I had about 6 weeks off work but I'm now only a few months in a new job and loathed to take any time off.
If anyone could suggest any alternatives I would be extremely grateful

Oestrogen patches or Oestrogel with Utrogestan capsules x

Was thinking along those lines but worry the utrogeston could make the hair loss worse, suppose i won't know until I try. I think I'll try and get an appointment at the menopause clinic to discuss, its about a 3 month waiting list if I recall. I've got 5 months worth of Angeliq left so will continue with them in the meantime. Thank you for your reply x

Your GP can prescribe gel / patches and Utrogestan x

Forgot to add I'm about 5 years post meno if I took oestrogel and utrogestan would that cause a monthly bleed? It wouldn't bother me too much if it did,anything to avoid the depression!!

If you are post meno then you take the Utrogestan continuously so you don't get a bleed x

Is Femoston 1/5 still available?  That is a single pill like Angelique but not the same progestogen as Elleste.

not the same thing but Elleste solo now out of stock at all my local pharmacy's, they cannot give any guarantees of getting more stock any time soon!

It's the most frustrating thing to have a HRT treatment that is actually working and that you feel good on to be discontinued or have supply or manufacture problems. I pestered the doctors for long enough to try Angeliq and don't think they were that keen to prescribe it as it's one of the more expensive ones, always had a problem finding it in a pharmacy as it wasn't prescribed very often.
Was speaking to the pharmacist and she said a lot of hrt preparations are having supply problems or being discontinued, I think Femoston and Femseven are hard to get,also elleste but I'd never touch them again 
I've a few months until my Angeliq runs out so will probably try utrogestan and oestrogel if the doc agrees hopefully there'll be no problems getting them!
Thanks for all your suggestions, really helpful. I think I'm just panicking and so angry that Angeliqs been discontinued that I'm not thinking straight and imagining I'll go back to that dark place I was when on elleste! If I stay away from anything containing Norethisterone I should hopefully ok
CLKD don't know about selling it in Europe but I've now resigned myself to try something else. They discontinued due to “commercial” reasons so it's obviously not making them much money.

You can still get most of it at the online pharmacy, but the prices    I can't remember exactly what they were but some are up to twice as much.

And no brexit yet....................

Had a look at online pharmacies can't find it on any of them I think that's the end of Angeliq it was great while it lasted  even if I could get it online the cost would be a bit much for me just now. I've calmed down now and will try the gel and utrogestan if it works great if not I'll just keep trying to find one to suit me thanks to everyone for your input

Ginny62, I was in my local pharmacy in Spain today and asked if Angeliq is being discontinued and as far as they know, it is still available and there are no plans to withdraw it. 

Hopefully you will find a good alternative but if not, you can bulk buy it in Spain.  Obviously this is not an ideal solution and would only work if you happen to come over here on holiday but I thought it might be useful to know. 

It is quite expensive at about €23.00 per pack so that could be why they are discontinuing it in the UK. 

I used to use this brand myself but switched several years ago.

They should be honest as to why products are being withdrawn in the UK 

Then 1 has to find a friend/relative willing to buy and send it in this direction.
