Brain fog, forgetfulness.... on HRT but still have it
« on: February 23, 2019, 05:18:09 PM »

I have Merina fitted and use a 50 Evorel patch twice a week.

I have brain fog, I forget things, make mistakes and cannot concentrate despite taking HRT.  Is this normal.. what can I take to be a bit sharper.   I am concerned about my performance at work because my job is demanding.    I was thinking about Rhodiola Rosea its an adaptogen but the info says consult a doctor if on HRT before use.

Thanks all  :)

Even with HRT... I do feel that I am not very sharp anymore and my mind wanders.    I have been on HRT for over 5 years.

Any suggestions anyone on how to sharpen things up x

This is probably a really crap answer but I find that when I don't have my morning and evening walk, I feel much worse.  I started walking 10 K a day in early December, split into two sessions.  It's helped my anxiety enormously and I would also say my concentration. Think it's a combination of fresh air and exercise  and being out of my house.  So not a very technical answer but a sort of practical one xxx

Hia!

What about Testosterone?

I've read it's meant to improve your mental agility, brain function and concentration also. I was told by gyn there isn't much research done on it's effects on women bcz there's no money in it for the manufacturing companies.

But I don't know if this is actually true as I don't take it. Start in 2 months.

Others who are on it may have some more help hopefully.

Could be well be the progesterone, the brain fog and concentration issues has been going on a very long time 10 years and I have been on HRT for 5 years.  I need the progesterone... I was without my Merina for 5 months and felt anxious and I was on here sharing my pain about that...  :-\

I have night night sweats, but they dont wake me up or keep me awake, my pjs are just damp a couple of times a week on waking.  I sleep approx 6-6.5 hours straight through, so i am very thankful for that.  I had insomnia for a while at the beginnning of peri and when I started to recognise the symptoms.   Introducing the estrogen and the Merina improved my sleep quality I think, but it could be better.

It's a mine field balancing these hormones out!  ::)

I like the idea of testosterone, my GP does not prescribe it though.    How can I get hold of some, can we get a cream on line?

I would like to read more about personal experiences with testosterone.  Is there a thread I can read on here?   I have  brain fog, concentration issues and a “libido” for literally just 1 day a month (that's probably a 3 hour window taking into consideration work, life and sleep demands for both parties) and that's if my progesterone and estrogen are settled, I'm not joking either.

Thank you

Hia Tracey!

I think you need to see a gyn to prescribe testosterone products, which is what I did. You can do this via a referral from your NHS doctor, or privately.

There is a thread you can read through on the subject of testosterone, link under here

I feel you on the brain fog, and low libido situ, the struggle is real, which is why I'm going to start using testogel soon to see if that will help me. Watch this space!

Hi ,  maybe get your vit B12 levels checked. I suffered from brain fog etc , got my B12checked  and found they were very low. Got injections and made a huge difference. Still have some memory forgetfulness but put that down to meno.

When I got my prescription for testosterone it cured the brain fog/trudging through treacle/evaluating things from a distance/lack of mental agility (whatever it feels like for you  :-\.)   I have had it for absolutely years, now I am actually "present", that's how I describe it.  I know it was the testosterone because I had been on my hrt regime 7 months and I wasn't taking anything else, so when the testosterone got added in and it disappeared after 10 days - that's what fixed it!  What causes it is another matter - I don't have the answer for that.  I'm just glad its gone.

I still get mentally tired quick but I think my brain is a bit exhausted from having to work so hard over the least 10 years or more - I think with a bit of "muscle training" it my get back in shape  :)
