Menopause clinic Evorel 50
« on: February 26, 2019, 07:25:27 AM »

My menopause clinic has prescribed me Evorel 50 patches (oestrogen only), 1/2 patch twice weekly, to help with my menopause symptoms, hot flushes, urethra/bladder irritation. However, the leaflet states that women with a womb taking oestrogen regularly may cause the womb lining to build up and thicken, therefore a progestogen hormone should be added to help shed the lining.
I'm 60, still have my womb, my last period was approx 10 years ago. Do I need the added progesterone? Any advice welcome.

Yes you do need progesterone if you have a womb . You would need it in the form of Utrogestan capsules or a Mirena coil , although the latter may not be suitable due to your age x

The leaflet is correct, I am absolutely horrified a menopause clinic gave you oestrogen only! You could use Evorel conti which has 2 weeks of patches with oestrogen only and 2 weeks of both oestrogen and progesterone, or Dotty's advice.

Thank you for the replies.
I checked with the menopause clinic and my GP surgery and found out it's the GP that's prescribed the wrong item. The letter from the menopause clinic to my GP clearly states Evorel Conti. Perhaps I should have checked the prescription more closely but I'm pleased I read the leaflet before I started using them  :-\

Thanks Dotty. I've been reading a few posts on here of other ladies experiences of Evorel Conti. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

If it doesn't work then try Oestrogel and Utrogestan xx

It seems to be a common mistake, I was given Everel Conti when I should have had Sequi. Just as well we read the Patient Information leaflet! Hope it goes OK.

Think I talking rubbish earlier (brain fog!) 'Evorel conti which has 2 weeks of patches with oestrogen only and 2 weeks of both oestrogen and progesterone' - this is Sequi. Sorry.
