Holidays 2019
« on: December 09, 2018, 06:40:22 PM »

I thought I'd start a new thread as I can see some of you are talking already about going away over the New Year or just after....

I'm also hoping to go to the Canaries or somewhere warm sometime before spring as my husband wanted some early warmth - we normally go abroad around Easter just for a week, so it will be a long time to wait until warm weather in UK after we come back!! Something to look forward to though :)

We have just booked another river cruise for Easter. It includes Amsterdam, the bulb fields etc.,

Not exactly exotic but should be relaxing.

They are wonderful. It's like going on holiday where the hotel moves and you can enjoy the scenery on the way.

They tend not to have balconies but sliding doors. The cabins are really comfortable and the food excellent.

We go with Rivera travel and if you go on their website each of the different cruises has a video. These give a good idea what the boats and each cruise destinations are like.

They do look wonderful.we've always gone with P&O but sadly their standards have gone downhill & cutbacks now very noticeable.we've booked next years Christmas cruise with Cunard so we'll see how they compare.
Away to look on riviera site 😊 thanks shady

My sister goes on cruises I think with Viking but says that they are getting more expensive: don't know if that's money wise or if standards have been lowered.

Nowt planned.  Once C.mas is over I can come home  ;)

And now it's the New Year - even though Christmas is not yet over for a few more days, we can really look forward to hols! :) .

Anyone going away soon?

Nope, at least not yet.  Still doing laundry from last week  ;D.  I will have lots of days out, time in our garden and visits to garden centres, to ease myself into 2019.  I would like to go to:

Chester Zoo/area
Shrewsbury
Ironbridge
Edinburgh

which means booking ahead  :-\

I've booked a Baltic cruise with Celebrity  :) we have wanted to visit the Baltic for a few years so I'm really looking forward to it.  We sailed with Celebrity in 2013 and found them very good but it's a different ship this time so exciting.

I think cruising/Lanzarote have hijacked this thread  ::)

I'm going to the Maldives in a couple of weeks- so excited.  I really struggle with the British winter so I'm delighted to be escaping x
