Poole Menopause Clinic
« on: October 11, 2018, 05:11:02 PM »

Anyone have any experience of Poole Menopause clinic and specialist Tim Hilliard who runs it? Geographically it's the nearest one to me so I've made a specific request to my GP to be referred there. We'll see.....

If you live close to Poole you shouldn't have any problem getting a referral, just ask your Gp. My problem is that in Devon where I live (and Cornwall too) there are absolutely no NHS Menopause clinics, and yet getting a GP to refer to one in a neighbouring county seems to be nigh on impossible, even after a year of extreme menopausal misery. I'd be interested to hear if you can get a referral easily as a Dorset resident.

Hi racjen. Sorry you are having problems in Devon with no menopause clinic close by. I think if you go privately do you need a GP referral, I thought you could self refer. I am getting HRT patches from my  GP. I am new to this area from London and my new gp wasn't happy at first to prescribe HRT. I'm okay at the moment but may need to see a menopause specialist at some point. Hope you get sorted, it isn't fair you have to suffer like this with the menopause. Vicky x

3 of my children live in Poole - my stepdaughter works at Poole Maternity Unit,  I am sure that she would know something.  I will ask her.  :great:

Thankyou Ladybt, that'd be really helpful. Vickypk, you don't need a GP referral to go privately - that's entirely up to you, nothing to do with your GP. But I don't see why I should have to go privately to access services I could get for free if I lived across the border in Dorset.

Hi racjen. I agree with you we shouldn't have to pay to see a menopause specialist. It will be interesting to know about Poole menopause clinic. Xx
