Haven't heard from the Waterboys for years  ::)

OK - the most uplifting song I know is 'The Mary Ellen Carter' by Artisan.  When I was working in the boarding kennels I would sing it to the dogs and it shut them up barking  ;D

I'll have a look at their play-list because Brian has written a lot of uplifting jaunty songs.

Here we go: from their Driving Home album which you can listen to on-line; those in black are lively!

1.      Going Nowhere                           (Brian Bedford)   Vocals - Artisan

2.   Though I Live Not Where I Love * Listen   (Trad. arr. Artisan)   Vocals - Artisan
3.   Working Men of England   (Trad. arr. Artisan)   Vocals - Artisan (historic)
4.   Poverty Knock                   (Trad. Arr. Artisan)   Vocals - Artisan

5.   Unicorns   (Bill Caddick)   Vocals - Artisan - gives me an ear-worm ;-)

6.   Mary Ellen Carter   (Stan Rogers)   Vocals - Artisan

side 2 -

7.   The Burning Times   (Charlie Murphy)   Vocals - Artisan (historic)

8.   One More Burden   (Brian Bedford)   Vocals - Artisan
9.   Shift and Spin           (Ewan McVicar)   Vocals - Artisan
10.   Mabel                   (Brian Bedford)   Vocals - Artisan

11.   The Coal and Albert Berry   (Brian Bedford)   Vocals - Artisan (historic, haunting)

12.   Buy and Buy * Listen   (Brian Bedford)   Vocals - Artisan

13.   Home                         (Brian Bedford)

Ooo  are you married to a singer songwriter aka Brian? How glam.
I always think if you took some random people into a studio and let them
muck around for a day they could come up with good songs . Not like the bland, howling
rubbish around today...proper songs pre the 1990s. I was listening to early Bowie yesterday
in the car....that man was a modern day mozart. I love all the Brat Pack era stuff too...St Elmos
Fire etc. Although maybe not Meatloaf.....

Ten Green Bottles, Hanging on the Wall
Hands, knees and up-sa-daisy

Nope -  Brian is a friend, married to Jacey.  They live in Yorkshire, the 3rd member is Hilary.
