New app - currently trialled Isle of Wight
« on: May 04, 2020, 04:28:47 PM »

OK - big brother again  :-\ but how does it work?  I don't have a modern mobile and I know how to switch it on/off and how to answer when it rings as well as sending text messages.

How can an app tell anyone if they have been close enough to pick up C-19?  How close is close?  What happens to the info. on the phone, how is it stored, who will have access to it and how long is it kept B4 being destroyed.

Too many iffs and butts for me to trust such methods.  After all, we've been isolating - haven't we  :-\

There are some idiots who report feeling unwell on an app just to spread fear  :-\

Already!  the worry seems to be that people won't admit to their symptoms.

No yet but its what I can see happening.  If some dont admit their symptons but are then tested and it's positive, perhaps the people they were in contact with can be told, even if its days later.  I havent heard too much about the app yet, how long the trial running for ?

I understood that it started today, apparently it isn't until tomorrow.  The user isn't likely to be tracked so anyone lodging a hoax won't be caught.

Just heard a QC, who specialises in Data protection law, on the radio.  He said that the new App does not comply with UK Data protection law.

I don't think that much does these days.  Have any of you ever read an article about someone being fined under Data Protection Laws and which one specifically?  There are 1,000s of them, specific to each industry.  But they managed to miss me out  ;D

How does this app work when we are all keeping distances?

There was someone yesterday stating that people will have to queue, eventually the queue got up to half a mile  ::)
