Sore breasts
« on: June 21, 2018, 06:14:48 PM »

Hi ladies, I've been on here a few times when concerned about something.
This time it's about sore breasts. I've been post menopausal for five years and still suffering from hot flushes, nightsweats and heart flutters. Somedays are worse than others
The last few weeks I have had sore breasts off and on and one in particular. I went to the doctor and she examined me - she couldn't find any lumps or anything and said if it didn't die down in a couple of weeks then to get in touch and she would make an appointment with the breast clinic. Last week it had more or less gone but today it's started again.
I'm not on HRT I tried it last year for about five months but it didn't agree with me.
Have any of you ladies had anything like this whilst being post menopausal. I'm feeling quite anxious with it. 🤭

Hi Carol sorry I missed your post been a busy week for me.
Yes there's a lot of ladies suffer with sore breasts, put sore boobs in the search facility and you'll be able to read a variety of posts on it.
I seem to be having a challenging time with it since starting hrt so I've emailed my meno consultant for advice, funny enough this morning they'd quietened down a bit again so I'm not sure myself what's going on but it definately seems to be hormonal.Im post meno no womb, for 20 years now sometimes I forget how long it's been lol. There are so many hrt regimes you can try it's a shame you could maybe try again the oestrogel is very low risk are you also on vagifem or similar for v.a because that's a bugger to deal with if it gets a grip so id also ask gp for treatment and have a search here on V.A for lots of lnfo.good luck x

Hi Daisydot, thank you so much for replying to me - I was beginning to think no one else has this.
I decided not to continue with HRT because I was suffering from insomnia and extreme anxiety when I was on it. Also I am 64 years old and was told there are greater risks when you start it over 60.
I still have my womb and ovaries so I needed the combined HRT.
I have been on Vagifem for a few years now for bladder problems.
I will do a search for sore boobs ... was frightened to do it incase I came across anything sinister.
Bit of a coward these days. 😔

Thanks again. 😉 x

I restarted hrt at 60 Carol but have to admit it's been an ongoing battle with gps mainly due to their fears not mine, thank god I found a great meno specialist who listened and gave me time and patience and showed me compassion.your first try at hrt was obviously unsuccessful I had three tries before finding a suitable regime but it's easier for me and more straightforward with having no womb. From what I've read the Mirena Coil combined with oestrogel seems to be the best answer for most ladies so it's maybe a thought for you option wise if you want to try again.
Don't be scared to check things out carol I know they say you shouldnt google etc but credit where it's due,it's been a lifesaver for a lot of people and sometimes our gps have a good old google too don't let them kid you.its what you do with the info that's important so read ,google ,educate yourself in all things menopause,I wish I'd done it years ago.good luck and put in different words / combinations in the search facility to get a variety of posts, think positive dont let your fears deprive you of knowledge xx
