Hi everybody!!!!!!
I'm new on here  ....here's my story your comments welcome.....I looked in the mirror way back in September to shockingly notice half my eyelashes on my left eye were sadly no more!... .  Since I have been wearing mascara since I was 11years old and always being complimented on them asked if they were real or fake! ...you can imagine my horror as to having a large missing clump!  ....I'm 51 in July and sadly mourning my eyelashes which now being June have still not regrown!!!! ....is this a menopausal symptom or maybe some other reason why life is dealing me this awful blow.......love to hear if anyone else has experienced the eye eyelash loss that I'm going through ..... .  I know it's not the end of the world but it certainly knocks your confidence  .   Drs have done blood tests all normal....they seem baffled too!

How are your periods etc.?

Which blood tests did the GP order?

How is the over-all hair cover?

It's hard to answer 'period' question as I had a hysterectomy 12 years ago due
 to really heavy periods so obviously I've thankfully not had them for a long time now  . Not sure what stage I'm at of the menopause tbh

Blood tests were for thyroid, anemia and liver function as far as I'm aware

Hair everywhere else is good  ..no change !

The Dr sent photos of my eye to the hospital dermatology dept who recommended cream but my Dr was obviously weary as it's close to the eye! .....so currently waiting another drs appointment

My husband has bleathritis [sp] and was prescribed cream years ago, helped his lashes grow back.  His eye lids were very red, we went to the GP for something and Dr Williams noticed ..... so DH came out with a prescription

 ....yes I've googled that ...my eyes have shown no sign of soreness even the optician said they look healthy!.... ....so hopefully I will be precribed cream...

How did he stop the cream going into his eyes?  .....

The bletharitis gel is very good LaRue orange box you can buy from boots.ive now lost most of my eyelashes on left eye another meno gift lol I lost all my pubic hair over the years although admittedly I never had much anyway and I've no eyebrows to speak of and no hair anywhere else,like one of the hairless cats lol just wrinkley skin.
Have a google at bletharitis it'll surprise you.It was Robin who directed me that way after I'd been to many eye specialist.good luck xx

My OH has no eyelashes on his left eye , dr said alopecia.
Dr at hospital said rub some baby shampoo onto hair line, he never has though.
If you look in a certain light, it looks like they've started to grow again, very
thin almost baby lashes growing back, but it takes a long time, he's had none
for about 2years now, hopefully they will come back.

I found this on boots.com   Blephagel Sterile Gel - 30g  would  this help eyelashes to grow back?... .....my eyelids aren't sore or red though ....

I've tried boots eyelash serum .....made my healthy eyelashes look fantastic but no growth on other...

I find my eyelash growth goes in cycles sometimes they seem fuller then they thin and then back again.

I use caster oil on the edge of the eyelid when I remember.

The idea is to put the product along the eye-lash line not into the eyes.

Thats what I said CLKD on the edge of the eye lid, meaning above the eye lash line so as not to get into the eye.

I don't think that my hand would be steady enough  I remember well that sudden 'ouch' when the mascara brush slipped.

Heard back from the Dr the other day seems she is not happy precribing the cream the demotolgist recommended.  If it went in the eye it could start other problems 

So basically it's a wait and see, I mentioned to her I was going to try Rapid Lash from Boots as that had some good reviews.

Just seems strange that she has never come across this with another patient or even heard of this happening!   

I will keep you all posted as to whether Rapid Lash works. Fingers Crossed!  Although they say 8 weeks till you see a difference!!!!

Do contact the Dermatologist again, explain and see if it can be prescribed directly?
