Hi hope its ok to start a new message about this as my old title is no longer really relevant and this is a good place for me to keep a note of everything.

Background:  No period for 84 days then 7 weeks of bleeding including 2 weeks of flooding / clots. A few days v light / spotting but rest of time like normal period.

10th March : started Norethisterone from GP.  Bleeding stopped two days later.

17th March : Finished Norethisterone

20th March:  Scan.  All structurally ok.  2 small fibroids.  Lining measures as 'thick' 15mm

As I mentioned in my other posts I'm particularly anxious about health things at the moment because my lovely husband has a life limiting cancer  :'(
My worry is obviously in case it is an indication of womb cancer.

I've had a little bleed today and have very bloated abdomen which I think is the start of the 'withdrawal' from the Noresthisterone.

I had originally booked a phone appointment with my GP on Monday but my surgery like to fill any cancellations so I've got one tomorrow instead now x

You have so much stress going on right now - it's no wonder you are anxious. Did they not suggest more treatment if your lining was so thick???  What about having a Mirena fitted to help stop fibroids developing and keep the bleeding under control? I'm sure they would have done biopsies if they were concerned about cancer risk - if you were in your 50s then there would probably be more concern.
See what your GP suggests - maybe more progesterone for a time to help reduce the lining? Keep us posted.  DG xxxx

I'm really sorry to hear about your husband, you are going through a very difficult time and this is an added problem I'm sure you could do without.

First of all, you finished the norethisterone on 17th March and you have started to bleed now so chances are, this will become a full scale bleed, possibly very heavy, which will shift a significant amount of that build up.  Once you have finished this next bleed, that would be a good time to have another scan to get a clearer picture of what is going on.  Obviously that is a very thick lining measurement but to put things into perspective, 11mm is often the maximum for pre-menopause women so you are slightly over that - more than 14mm is considered thick.  This is a very common for women your age when hormones start to go out of sync and you have more oestogen than progesterone.  It is easily fixed with a high dose of progesterone which you have already taken and if that doesn't shift it to an acceptable level, you might need another dose.

By the way, it is normal for breakthrough bleeding to temporarily stop when you start taking progesterone and then start again shortly after you finish taking it.

At lot of us on here don't like norethisterone but it works very well at womb lining clearance so you are on the right track.  What you need to do now is to find an HRT regime that keeps the womb lining thin and stop this from happening again.  It sounds like you tolerate progesterone well so this should be relatively easy.

Hopefully you can get some expert advice from a menopause specialist.
