Utrogestan and thrush
« on: March 21, 2018, 11:59:52 AM »

I have been taking utrogestan orally but this month I have really felt the side effects, insomnia, grumpiness etc.  I had avoided the vaginal route because I am very prone to thrush.  So if utrogestan is taken vaginally is it known to trigger a thrush attack?  I also read somewhere that taking it rectally was an option and wondered if anyone knew anything about this?

Thanks

If you use Multi Gyn Actigel this can really help to treat and prevent thrush and BV.  Use Multi Gyn twice a week, use Vagifem local oestrogen twice a week and vaginal moisturiser daily(do not use local oestrogen at the same time as the moisturisers or Multi Gyn) and this should help to keep a healthier vaginal flora with less chance of BV and thrush.
I found using Utrogestan vaginally really irritated my ‘lady bits' and is really only suitable on a sequential regime.
If Utrogestan is giving too many side effects then try Provera or have a Mirena fitted.
