I find it easier to sleep on a couple of pillows.

It has to take it's course. ABs are no longer prescribed in our Surgery unless there's an accompanying chest infection.  Plenty of fresh air.  Plenty of liquids. Plenty of rest.  I did use high dose Magnesium tablets in the 1990s - several of us had irritable coughs for 6-8 months and as singers it really didn't help! so we took the Magnesium and it relaxed the cough reflex.

When you say 'chesty' has your GP listened with a stesthescope?

What for?  Did he sound your chest with a stethoscope and hopefully he warmed it first ........ the GP sounded me through my light blouse on Monday.
