Hi CKLD

Just getting back to business today after a hairy couple of weeks :-*  - sorry to hear you're in  a flare up  :-\ I have IBS also - I went on holiday two weeks ago and as soon as I arrived I knew the change in food/water/climate etc would slow transit down :( I am currently taking PB Assist from Doterra - but I feel they are too expensive to maintain long term.  I also made my own kefir last year - discovered after months hard work that it aggravated rather than soothed IBS (fermented milk). Actimel is not going to give you enough good bacteria - i tend to go back to Bio-kult brand - it's reasonably priced and should be effective in getting enough of the good stuff into your gut. I even started my grandchild on it at 3 months old ;)
During stressful periods my body responds with gas/nausea/diahorrea - Buscopan Cramps are the best at this point.

I will finish PB Assist but will return to bio-kult which works for me and is very reasonably priced.

Let us know how you get on

:thankyou: did you  manage to enjoy any parts of your holiday?

Actimel helps my bowels really well as I drink several pots (2/3/4) daily  ;)

My bowel is not just irritable just now, it is downright bad tempered.  >:(

I used to drink Actimel until I realised how much sugar is in a pot!

That's why I take the pills.....no tooth rot and no calories and a much more effective delivery of good bacteria.

Even doctors are prescribing pro biotics when you have to take an AB.

I think Actimel does mire harm than good as it has hardly any good bacteria and the sugar can cause its own digestive problems. Definitely worth trying a good probiotic for a wee while

No, to be taken along with the Anti biotics.

I agree with nearly50 Actimel is almost useless. It's a nice drink but if you are looking for something to actually help your tummy then a proper high strength pro biotic is the way to go.

Why are you so resistant to the idea CLKD.....you can get them in any good chemist. Boots...Superdrug...Loyds and also online.

I am not resistant at all other than so far Actimel worked for me.  Initially my GP gave me. Motillium and Colpermin capsules which I took for 4+ years B4 someone suggested one of those drinks of which there are several but I really didn't fancy them  :-X, however, when I did start drinking several pots per day my bowels were no longer 'slow' ....... so whilst they work I will continue but it's about my remembering to buy and use the product  ::).  I did stop drinking them for 12-15 months and noted that slow transit returned .......

I do usually - when I remember to buy and use  ::).  I must read Dr Moseley's book ....... I might then have something concrete to go on.
