sweating,clammy, lightheaded
« on: March 07, 2017, 10:33:57 AM »

Morning Ladies,

Just got back from taking my dog for a walk. Every morning including today when I am walking I get clammy, perfuse sweating comeing through my clothes and lightheaded. I am currently taking Tibolone but was like this on my previous HRT that's one of the reason I changed.

I take 125 Leveroxine at 6:00am had fruit with banana at 8:00am went out for my walk at 9:00am walked a few hundred yards and started sweating, lightheaded...so as usual rushed home its the same every morning. Feel better by lunch time. I had a heart scan 3 years ago all ok.

I take my tibolone at 4:00pm, not sure if its just running out by 9:00am?? I also get some flushes and occasional missed beat in the morning too.

Anyone else felt like this?? it's put me back to square one of avoiding going out :(

Yes, I get this quite often, horrible clammy feeling and I feel as if I'm in a rainforest as it feels the same as being in hot humid conditions. Not on HRT or anything though and luckily it passes quite quickly for me.

Hello warwick01.

Although I don't have exactly this I experience the jitters daily which are unnerving  and often lead to feelings of panic. I seem to spend my life trying to find ways of eradicating these horrible sensations and if I strike lucky the wonderful ladies of the forum will be the first to know!

Wishing you well.

Sometimes lately I have been waking up like this all clammy at 6 or 7am - even between my toes is sweating. Thinking of you and hope you feel ok, this is a horrid symptom.x

Sounds like when I have a blood sugar drop. I suggest try to include a protein in your meal eg cheese or a boiled egg as it might assist the blood sugar stabilisation. Banana and fruit might cause a bit of a blood sugar spike, which triggers an insulin spike resulting in an intense drop with that horrible symptoms.

Thanks ladies for all your advice.

Matildamouse - very interesting re blood sugar spike. I'm ok first thing and then wham..... always around 9:30sh I start sweating, clammy and lightheaded. Yet after lunch I feel better. I was wondering if it was due to my Tibolone running low but don't take it until 4:00pm so would expect to feel like this up until I take my tablet.

If it doesn't improve soon may need a trip to GP, mind you all I get told is ANXIETY..... no its not I'm sure about that.

I agree with the protein advice. I started taking levothyroxine over 10 years ago, and before that could skip breakfast or eat whatever for breakfast. From the very beginning since starting the med, I have to eat protein for breakfast within an hour after taking it or I feel like I'll hit the floor. I suppose it kicks up my metabolism in the mornings. If you've been on that dose for some time and this is new, you might get your levels checked in case you need to change your dose.

Lizab

Thanks for your advice. Do you mind me asking what you have for breakfast?? I feel the same every morning between 9:00 - 12:00 and then feel better in the afternoon. Take thyroxine at 6:00am. I'm ok when I get up at 7:30 all starts from 9:00 >:(

On Sunday we went for a walk again and after walking 10 minutes half a mile I started sweating, lightheaded and feel a bit disorientated.....

I'm sorry I missed your question. If I won't get a snack before midday, I like to have an egg and toast or a sausage biscuit. Is there a UK equivalent to a breakfast biscuit? If I'm in a rush, yogurt instead. Lately I've found even a banana keeps me level. I like to have cold cereal and milk first thing but it doesn't seem to hold me as long. I've never liked anything too sweet in the morning, but I imagine any fruit and dairy would work.

Hi Warwick01

I take thyroxine in the morning too.
I don't think the fruit on its own is enough first thing in the morning.
I have cereal, with fruit on (usually raspberries or blueberries), I add a teaspoon full of ground almonds, linseed, wheat germ, chia seeds and  sesame seeds. It seems to be the right balance to stop me feeling lightheaded.

Lizab/Littleminni

Thank you for the advice. As I've been watching my weight only having fruit and fat free yogurt at 8:00am but by 10sh (same time every day) feel lightheaded. Yesterday had 2 Weetabix + banana, felt a little better but lightheaded came back around 11:30. Usually have lunch around 1:00pm. Always feel better from around 3:00pm.

Maybe then eat more in the morning and do the 'healthy eating' in the afternoon when you feel well. X

Littleminnie,

Good idea - never thought of having fruit in the afternoon but will try from tomorrow.

Will let you know how I get on ;)

I get this a lot Warwick and after much toing and froing my Consultant has now referred me to an Endocrinologist as I have weird thyroid numbers that suggest secondary hypothyroidism. This is probably why I can't tolerate ERT and I'm on nothing at all at the moment pending investigations (a big thank you to Joesmum who first pointed out my thyroid numbers were off - I'm forever in your debt)!

I think you would be well to have thyroid review with a specialist, Warwick - things do change over time and with changes in HRT. Sending you biggest hugs! xxxxxx

Hi Tempest,

So good to hear from you :) more importantly your improving day by day.

Yes - I agree I will be requesting a review re thyroid. Still getting daily dizziness, last 2 days had return of headaches....... seeing consultant next week so lets see what happens re the Tibolone. Trying not to change to much at one time.

Had my Weetabix/banana this morning so will see if it makes a difference.

Take Care Xxx
