Has anyone been prescribed any cream by the doctor which works for there itching. My itching is always in the same place on the left folds of the skin. I don't have it all the time, so wondering if it is stress related and exacerbated by sitting.It is not white like Lichens just a little red. I once had some betnovate prescribed for that area, but it seemed rather strong and burnt. I am now trying hydromol as recommended by one of you lovely ladies on this forum.  That is very soothing, but not sure how effective it is for the itching. The itching is worse at night when trying to sleep. Replies are always appreciated.  Thanks.

Is this in the vaginal folds?  I find Savlon adequate but others use Sylk for example.  I find that by keeping the area moist it stops the itching which is probably due to, in my case, is dryness.

Are you using anything for VA, like Vagifem? It sounds like this might be hormonal. I used to get an awful itch in a particular place - now I'm using internal oestrogen it has gone. Some people use an oestrogen cream on the outside too. Sylk is good (no hormones) and Dancing Girl brilliantly recommends multigyn actigel which can sting a bit but makes sure the pH is right and so lessens the chance of thrush, etc.
Myself, I wouldn't put an antiseptic cream anywhere near such sensitive skin but that's a personal preference and it seems to work for CLKD.

Betnovoate is very potent.

During my MEGA va journey , it was suggested by a gynae to use 1% hydrocortisone ointment from the chemist , it is very weak.

There is also available 0.5% only on prescription odd.

Look on the web and 1% is recommended by lots of vulva dermos.

You could do ovestin in the am and hydrocortisone in the PM.

HOWEVER this is advise for me , but in my none medical opinion and what I have researched sorts lots of ladies out , also may be worth trying a antihistamine for a few nights ?

Himself always warned me not to use too much Savlon down there in case it did what it says on the packet and healed up the whole area

Thanks for the replies girls. It's wonderful how knowledgeable you all are. I took the bull by the horns and went to the Doctors yesterday. She thinks I have a fungal infection and prescribed Canesten. If this doesn't work, I will have to go back and have a swab taken. Had one before and nothing was found. Thrush had occurred to me. Anyway, on with canesten and fingers crossed it works. It's certainly red and inflamed in the one particular area.  Must try not to kerp scratching it. Probably should have gone sooner and not treated it myself with various things. By the way the person I saw thinks Menopause Matters is a brilliant site. Keep up the good work everyone.

Pleased to report that the Canesten has helped my itching. It hasn't irritated me at all like it has before. It has been great being able to sleep. Have to use it for another week.  Unfortunatley, yesterday I sat for nearly ten hours. Went on a long bus journey to watch a Christmas Extravaganza show in Norfolk. Not so good down below today. It is obviously sitting that really aggravates that area. Very sore today, not what I wanted, but hey ho, the show was absolutely fabulous. Can't have it always. Hope the soreness is short lived. Hope everyone else is okay. Happy Christmas to you all.

Hope you all had a lovely Christmas and are now ready for a happy and healthier 2017. I am pleased to say that I was prescribed hydrocortisone cream for the itching.  Several of you recommended this so thank you. I was told to use it for a week and leave it for a few days and then use it again if needed. I have had a wonderful fortnight, no itching as such. Unfortunately,  I woke itching this morning. Did anyone else find they had to reuse the hydrocortisone cream? Probably sitting a lot playing games has brought on the itching again. Hoping it is short lived. Take care all of you.
