Another new member today
« on: November 14, 2016, 10:56:38 AM »

Hi I'm Tracy and 48. Have been having symptoms for at least a couple of years. Have been trying to deal with it but it all seems to have risen to the surface over this weekend. Actually had a conversation with Hubby to try and get him to understand the issues that I am having and how it all makes me feel. I think that has helped a lot and he now realises that to some extent it isn't his fault  ;D
I am having to try out alternative therapies as I had a DVT a few years ago and therefore am unable to take HRT. That in itself is making it harder.

Hi Tracy, I'm 49 and new here too. I've not gone down the HRT route too - have found it really helpful to see that others have the same symptoms as me. I seem to have had them all in the past 3 years! Keep telling myself it won't last forever!

Hello tracy 1968 and welcome to the forum.

There are many knowledgeable and supportive ladies on this site who can help you on your journey so you are not alone.
Men don't really understand what we are going through, how could they, but I like to blame most things on my husband as I feel it keeps him on his toes lol!

Wishing you well.

Hi tracy1968

 :welcomemm:

Sorry to hear about your DVT - was the reason established as to why this occurred? I presume you were advised to make any lifestyle changes if necessary re smoking, alcohol, body weight, exercise, diet etc (I realise some of these may not be relevant to you) to help prevent the chance of it happening again, and perhaps you are on medication too?

When you say you've been having symptoms - what are the ones troubling you and are you still having periods - if so how often do they come?

From the info on this site HRT is not necessarily out of the question if symptoms become debilitating - but you would need to be referred to a specialists. here is the info:

Thrombosis
Since HRT is associated with a small increased risk of venous thrombosis, care must be taken when considering HRT use in women with a past or family history of thrombosis. Depending on the indication for HRT and on the cause of the thrombosis, risks and benefits should be assessed. If HRT is to be used, preference would usually be given to the transdermal route (patch or gel) [ref 22]. Specialist advice should be requested. Vaginal estrogen may be used for treatment of vaginal and bladder symptoms.

There are lots of ways we can help you depending on where you are in menopause and your symptoms. All you need to do is ask :)
