IBS causes nausea. I'm going through a stage of it at the moment although peri also causes nausea. I think I've come out in sympathy with you as the last few days have had bloating, trapped wind, pain at top of stomach!

I don't think I'm going to take it anymore.   I have felt lousy all weekend and that has increased my anxiety.   I still have exactly the same weird feeling anyway, but now have nausea, upset tummy and headache...

I think I'm going to assume it is anxiety related and hope it goes when I am busy out and about next week.  Everything gets worse when I spend long periods working from home, as I fixate.

Exercise!  Drink plenty of fluids!  Eat little and often ……… and cut out 'gassy' foods!

I'd go back to your GP and explain Urbanchick. You need to find out what is causing this pain. Sorry but so often we get fobbed off with indigestion remedies when a proper examination may be needed. Not wanting to freak you out but you know your body and something obviously isn't right.

I was expecting a lot of wind last night as we had broccoli as part of our evening meal, stalks and everything  ::).  Luckily, no effect  :-\

Just a quick update - I took Lansoprazole for four days but stopped as I got really bad cramping and bloating and a headache.   I haven't taken one since Sunday but now, about 30/40 minutes after eating I am getting really and lower abdominal cramp - like something rock like is being squeezed through my system!   Could this be the side effects of Lansoprazole?   I understand it kills the stomach acid so makes food harder/slower to digest.

Am obviously now really stressed/anxious, which is exacerbating the whole thing, I know.    Had a chat to a hypnotherapy lady yesterday who specialises in the menopause.  Expensive, but worth a try!

Hi Urbanchick

You kindly replied to my alternative therapy thread. I think we must be twins, though I'm 'countrychick' as I live in the middle of nowhere. I can so relate to your symptoms.

Since the 'dhal incident' on Monday I've had various pains and winds moving around from left to right and front to back. I've also got a lot of gurgling. Like you I am struggling to keep a grip on reality and avoid a health anxiety meltdown. I've had about three months of relative normality and almost symptom free so I suppose I thought I was 'out of woods' but very recently with the sweats and flushes starting up again I realise that it was just a blip. Today I woke with adrenaline surges... what next?

I really do sympathise. I can't really suggest anything that you aren't doing already. Have you ever read the Gut Book by Guilia Enders? It gave me a lot of insight into show the digestive system works and did allay some fears. On the hypnotherapy front I tried a 30 minute free sleep session on YouTube last night, went straight to sleep and slept until 4 which is unusual for me.

Good luck, hope you feel better soon

Oh, another thing I was going to mention - I take a daily probiotic tablet (at night) from Healthspan. This has made a definite difference, until the dhal messed up my guts!

Thanks for that 'countrychick'.   Cramps are wearing off and am just left with trapped wind under rib and anxiety feeling in guts.   Feel I am going round the bend!  Any chance you could pm with details of your probiotic and the hypno link so I can give them a go?

Wind makes me feel really ill  :-\ - 4 years Himself would rub my belly gently to move it downwards, that however was a grumbling appendix  ::).  Once I had been diagnosed with IBS later I took Colpermin and Motillium within an hour of eating my main meals - the idea being that the former shifts upper gut wind and the latter moves food through the system quicker.  I have slow transit occasionally so add Actimel 2-3 times a day, swallowing the last one as I go to bed.  That eases my bowel so that I feel comfy again.

If the wind persists then I feel queasy  :-\ so have to keep it under control.  Do have a look at Dr James Le Fanu's comments about Lansoprazole etc. …….. (use the search button).

Let us know how you get on!
