New to HRT - would like to check my concerns...
« on: June 12, 2016, 12:23:26 PM »

Hi ladies...(Not sure which link to post this under - so did both!) I have done the first week's loading dose of vagifem (another week to go) then 5 per week. Plus I started the utrogestan & patches a few days ago. I just have a few worries going round in my mind and wondered if anyone had found the same things...here goes! (1) I worry I am not inserting it deep enough...I go as far as is comfortable before there is resistance but it's not 8-10 cm - I don't like to force it. Sometimes it glides in ok (I use lubrication) and sometimes I have more of a problem. I raise pelvis up and breathe out but still it's variable. Does it matter?  (2)Occasionally when I click the applicator and the pessary comes out I feel a slight pain/sting - do other people find this? (3) Last night after the 2 insertions I felt sore and almost burny inside, which then prevented me from sleeping - does anyone else find this and might it go after a while of use? (I currently have VA/vaginitis for last 5 weeks). (4) I have been using Hyalofemme which thankfully agrees with me but am thinking about also trying Balance Activ as Dr suggested it for vaginal PH. I am not sure if they are similar - Hyalofemme is a rehydrating gel with a derivative of Hyalauric acid. I am worried Balance Activ might sting, but if it's a good idea to try instead or as well as Hyalofemme then whether to use the pessary (sick of pessaries though!) or the gel..any thoughts?
Sorry for these long questions but I have been saving them up for those who can relate and reassure me...I am a bit of a baby with all this, never having had children! (Also been in a lot of discomfort & inflammation for several weeks).  Many thanks in advance.xx

sap22 - if the Hyalofemme is working for you then I'd stick with it - it helps to moisturise, lubricate and also helps to maintain the right ph balance in the vaginal area - so generally great - I use MultiGyn Actigel which is very similar.
Re: the Vagifem -  I find leaning forward makes it easier to get deeper inside if needed - if you come into contact with the neck of your womb then this may give a little bit of pain as you click the applicator.  I usually direct the applicator more towards the back to avoid the uterus - it will then go deeper and be less uncomfortable.  As you are using 2 at a time you may get a bit more stinging and this is fillers in these pessaries irritating slightly - I'd use a bit more Hyalofemme if I were you. You should find every things starts to feel better after about 4-6 weeks - it does take time to do it's magic.  DG x

Thanks, Dancing Girl! Yes, maybe I'll stick with the Hyalofemme instead of introducing more different treatments.  I just need to find a better applicator online, as the one they give gradually increases in size towards the tip, so am going to have a word with my chemist who is very good and who might suggest I can buy a slimmer one that attaches to the nozzle of the tube. Thanks again xx

sap22 - I actually use the lubricating gel by just putting a good squirt on the end of my finger and pushing this up inside. The Multi Gyn Actigel I use does come with an attachment to put on the tube and this is tapered - I sometimes use this if I want to apply more inside.  DG x

That's handy to know, as I could buy Multi Gyn Actigel and use that attachment - just used the Hyalofemme one today with not too much of a problem - it's variable!! x
