Has anyone else had nightmares while on hrt? The last couple of nights I've had really scary dreams. I woke during the night with my heart racing from a horrible dream the last couple of nights. Only on hrt just over a week so just wondering if this could be a side effect

Probably. I had nightmares on certain ADs - Himself (husband) would tell me "it's only dreams" but it was much, much more. For a few years I feared going to sleep
Now I have busy, involved, long dreams - my brain picks up something from the day's News, finds someone not fought of for years from the back of my memory, mixes it together
. I woke this morning knackered from one …….

Hi I'm using using estrodot, It's estrogen only because I had hysterectomy 3 1/2 years ago. I asked my chemest today and she is going to look into it for me and let me know if its the hrt causing it. The dreams are horrible

I am not on HRT and having horrible symptoms. Was interested in this thread because I too have experienced a few nights where I have had nightmares. Ended up shouting out before I was woken. This must be meno related, have not had nightmares since I was a child. Another nasty symptom!

where will these symptoms end
Every time I feel I'm getting a bit better another symptom appears, bloody menopause has me exhausted between strange aches and pains, weird dreams, strange shock like feelings and mood swings etc Hopefully hrt will kick in soon ( on it nearly 2 weeks), Not looking for miracles just a bit of normality would be nice

ADs and other medications can cause variations in dreams.

For the third time in a week, I have had a nightmare, hence me being on here right now as I woke at at 1:15am after having a horrible, vivid dream (this was connected to an argument that I had with DH earlier - wretched PMS again; my mood swings have been bad over the last few days & tomorrow is day 28 of cyc!e). I am on Oestrogel HRT & am waiting for another gynae appointment to discuss progesterone regime (how long to take it for, mainly) but I think I will have to see GP as my last gynae appointment was cancelled & I haven't heard anything yet. My cycle has been longer this month which, I assume is due to using the Oestrogel. The nightmare woke me with a start & I experienced an anxiety attack (have taken diazapam to calm me down which is now taking effect). Just want this period to start now (I had a headache this morning but no sign of it yet). Yammy1, I know exactly what you mean about the symptoms appearing - some come & go & others put in an appearance overnight! Grr!
