Been on Syten Conti for the past 6 months - absolutely fine and just picked up my new prescription from the doctors and then the chemist and I have been given Evorel 50. I didn't even read my prescription when it was written out. Is this the same type of HRT does anyone know and do the patches stick the same as Systen Conti? (Bloomin brilliant - never ever come off).

I've left the medication at the chemist as once I take it from there I cannot change it so thought I'd ask the guys in the know before I opened the packets and tried them.

Systen Conti (previously Evorel Conti), works brilliantly for me - no weight gain, no sore boobs, so I am reluctant to go on something else if its different.

Feeling so good after TAH in September. Lost weight, (gym and dieting because I have more energy), no night sweats, no mood swings. Life is good. I don't want it to change unnecessarily!

Evorel 50 patches don't contain any progesterone which is the right type of HRT if you have had a hysterectomy. You don't need the progesterone to protect your womb but some women find they feel better with the progesterone added and you may be one of them. I believe that the oestrogen only HRT is also less likely to give rise to breast cancer. I think that's the right way round! It may be worth checking with your doctor as to why it's been changed?

wanderersmelody and welcome to the forum.

I just wanted to say that the patch I use is Evorel Conti 50 mcg and contains both oestrogen and a synthetic progesterone   ( estradiol hemihydrate and norethisterone acetate).

You may want to check with your pharmacist before collecting them or even look on Google ?

wandersmelody - I looked up Systen patches and they seem to be the same as Evorel Sequi or Conti patches - Systen seems to be a German/Swiss brand. If you look under TREATMENTS above you may find a preparation that matches the patches you were using before.  I think you have been given the wrong type of patches - they should be Evorel sequi or conti and contain progesterone as well - this mistake often happens as GPs are often not up to speed on these things.  Were you living abroad before? Thanks Taz hadn't realised that. In that case, unless she has endometriosis, she should only need oestrogen.  It just seemed strange that she was clearly on a combined HRt before for some reason!!!!  DG x

I found it strange too. There is some thought nowadays that progesterone may still be needed as a protective effect for the ovaries so maybe that's the reason? Some gynaes seem to be going down that route.
