:thankyou:  for the update.  It's a stiff journey at times but feeling supported by the Surgeon and his Team makes a huge difference.  How much radiation will you need, I had 4 weeks.

Hello Sparkle.
Thank you for thinking of me! It has been a long journey but in a strange way these past few months have flown by.  Once you get on a treatment plan in is non stop appointments that keep you focused.  It hasn't all been plain sailing obviously but now waiting for my last lot of treatment which is radiotherapy.

Hello CLKD.
You're right having an excellent team has made all the difference.  I couldn't have wished for better support and care from everone involved.  I will be having three weeks of radiation.  I am started to get scared about it now - but obviously that is what has happened with every new treatment I started, chemotherapy and then surgery.  It has really helped that I live so close to the hospitals involved in my care.
Will update you again.

My friend found the radiation no problem at all. She was, like you, rather nervous of what to expect. Moisturisation of the area is the key apparently. We too are lucky that we have a brilliant breast care unit - only opened a year or so ago - within five miles so we didn't have to travel long distances each day.

Thanks again ladies.

Taz do you know what moisturiser your friend used, I assume it has to be unperfumed.  I have heard aloe vera is good.

I was advised NOT to use anything other than Johnson's baby talc due to other products having zinc in which can upset the radiation.  I was given a steroid cream once the area became reddened - it took me longer to get underessed/dressed than the actual radiation zaps  ::).  Have you been offered small tattoos rather than an ink splurge to guide the laser beam?  I have 3 ………….

I was told by the Oncologist  not to sit in the sun and when out and about to wear a straw hat  8).  I had competitions with the Jamaican lady - we 'dressed' our hats each night to compare ideas the next morning  ;)

It was the top half, laid face down, rather odd, lasted about half an hour, nearly fell asleep, which is amazing considering how loud it is
