Hi Peterspots. I'm so sorry to hear that you are going through this. I have had similar problems which have sadly got worse in this peri nightmare. I can tell you what helped me; for the urethral pain, drink a glass of water (or squash if you prefer) with a teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda. This neutralises the urine and stops it from stinging the irritated urethra. For the bladder spasms, get some Buscopan tablets, which are for IBS but basically relieve muscle spasms. Take two tablets three times a day for one day only. This is what my GP advised me to do and it works. If you've had the cystoscopy and your bladder/urethra are fine, it is just all irritated probably and you need to allow it to calm down.

Please let us know how you get on.

Hi Peterspots

Sorry to hear about your problems.

I haven't really had issues down there except the usual dryness for which I like others use systemic HRT as well as local oestrogen - I use Gynest pessaries but they've been discontinued. You asked "can the cream help the bladder too". There are oestrogen receptors in the urethral area as well as near and maybe in the bladder so this is why women get problems when oestrogen declines and local oestrogen helps.

Whatever your specialists or doc says, most definitely ask (your GP) for either Vagifem or one of the estriol creams as others have mentioned, and don't be fobbed off if they say you don't need it or you can't have it as well as HRT. This is what Dr Currie says on this site:

VAGINAL TREATMENTS

Local estrogen can be used for vaginal and bladder symptoms, when systemic treatment is not desired or appropriate. For some women, vaginal estrogen may be required along with systemic HRT.

I hope the pain and discomfort eases soon.

:welcomemm: Miss Lemon and  :thankyou:  - my paternal grandma swore by bicarb for many things - because she didn't have access to modern preparations

Thank you CLKD. It's wonderful stuff! It works a treat for clearing up acne spots too. They're gone almost immediately. Love it!

Thank you. I will get some tomorrow. Doesn't hurt to wee but it pressure low down. Could that be the urethra? I don't no when I'm full. It's just if the pain gets more intense. Just don't know what's going on down there

Do you pass a good quantity each time or a dribble?  Are you hydrated?  Drink more than you think you ought to for a few days to keep kidneys working and bladder emptying.

Normal amounts but its the pain in between. I don't know what happened with the cysosocpy but km housebound now. The pain is searing. He said I didn't have interstitial cystitis but I feel awful. I wasn't great when I went in but this is on a new level

The soreness makes me feel like my urethral broken or there's raw stuff in my bladder. My family life is imposing. This is a complete nightmare. The cysosocpy has done something.

Off to the GP in the morning then? or give the Dept a ring, speak to the Secretary and ask advice?  Take the pain relief as advised too.

I've taken neurofen & will have the cocodomal when I go to bed as it knocked me out. I'm scared at the moment. Hoping the Urologisr will call me tomorrow. It get so much worse as the day goes on. I was hoping my problem was the menopause & the cream will help but the cysoscopy has sent the pain so high

Let us know how you get on.  If the body is tense it can aggravate underlying conditions  ::)

Did you have a bicarb bath this evening?

Hi - were you given a course of antibiotics after your cystoscopy? I was when I had mine done and was told that it's common practice in our hospital due to the high risk of bladder/urine infection following the procedure. If you weren't then I would suggest seeing your GP to have your urine tested. It is possible to have an infection which can cause this sort of bladder ache but not the usual type of cystitis symptoms.

Hello.  Yes I have had an antibiotic for a week. I've had the dip test & it was negative. I am tense. I am trying to be more relaxed over it but I have not experienced pain like this. I am worried about how this has effected me & worrying about what has happened or why it isn't feeling better yet?  It's a week today. I thought when I had it it was very very sore but as the bladder was ok I could start on the estrogen cream when I saw the gynae. Now I just don't know.
