Hi Karen -

When I tried to come off HRT, the meno clinic specialist recommendations were: Femarelle (soy derivative) and Promensil (Red Clover) and MenoHerb (Black Cohosh and SJW).  They are quite expensive and may or may not work and have to be taken for a few months to give benefit.

Sage did nothing for me.

As you well know, there's a whole (confusing) range of alternatives out there, eg. Maca, Starflower, Agnus Castus.

Maybe try Promensil (red clover) - there are reviews on Amazon.

Sorry, you've mentioned in past threads but I can't recall, what stage of meno are you at - have your periods stopped?

Would you consider seeing a herbalist for a tailored remedy.  From what I've read, Black Cohosh does seem to give good results.

Or trying Clonidine or ultra-low dose AD, eg. Prozac or Venlafaxine.

Or can you go back to your GP and ask for a referral to a meno clinic?

I have a 30 day sample pack of MenoHerb (in date) that I won't be using - if you would like to try it, PM me your address and I'll send it to you.

Hope you find a way forward, meno is the pits.

Hi Karenja

Sorry to hear things are bad again. Looks like Night Owl has given you some great suggestions there. Hope they work for you  :)

I know you say you've tried HRT and Ads, but do you think you gave them a fair trial? What was the longest you took them for? (I know, with me, it was at least three to four months before the side effects went and I noticed any true benefit). Have you considered a gel, which you could have more control over? (Can't remember which you tried previously? Sorry).

Hope things improve soon, B x

Just to let you know you are not the only one.

I don't think that helps! Sorry..

I got beta blockers for my palpitations which really helped - have you asked your GP?

Hope you find something that works for you.  :)

Hi Briony and Sausage, the longest I lasted on one particular hrt was three months its the progesterone I couldn't get on with as for ad's they made me fell worst though I only took them for a matter of days, I really want some herbal method/diet/vitamins to help so will keep trying as reluctant to go back on  hrt or ad's I know they help some people but not others as we are all different xx

I think the same is true of anything karenja what suits one doesn't the other. Sorry don't know of any herbal or vitamins that really help having tried most of them at some time or other and spending copious amounts of money. Now just take menopace alongside my hrt to top my general vitamins up.
