Bloody Phlegm
« on: March 13, 2015, 07:13:14 PM »

Hi

And sorry not a nice subject but, I have asthma not severe but have it just the same, also had catarrh (not sure how spelt), but now and again (happened this week) I bring up bloody phlegm it happened this week, it only ever happens in the morning.

I have mentioned this to the gp several times and they do not seem concerned, I have had two chest x rays last year (unrelated) but they were fine.

Has anybody else experienced this, it can be quite bloody but there is never a lot of it

Could be caused by severe coughing bouts. I too have asthma & often feel like my throat is being ripped out with severe coughing, but thankfully never had any bleeding.  Could the blood be coming from elsewhere, say back of your nose? The reason. I say this I have post nasal drip. On occasion one nostril bleeds a lot for a few minutes & I am acutely aware of some blood trickling down my throat.
