Symptoms Flooding Back since off HRT
« on: February 25, 2015, 06:00:23 PM »

Hi Again

Ive been off hrt probably two months now and as Ive mentioned symptoms that it helped slowly coming back, this week getting worst, night sweats well and truly back, flushes in the day, anxiety, feeling sick, headaches, fainty feelings it must be lack of estrogen.

I can try and tackle the anxiety with cbt Im now starting, but I don't know if anything other than hrt can help the other symtoms, please tell me if you know of any.

The thing is I don't really want to take tablet form of hrt, I got on well with estradot patches but it there a progesterone that I can take with it that I can get on with???god knows Ive tried most of them.

Plus my male gp more or less advised me against going back on it due the serious health risks, exhausted with it all yet again xx

Can't help you Karen with coping without her, someone will though I'm sure

Sorry you feeling bad but what I believe IMHO and my specialist is that your doctor is misinformed and scaremongering, please don't suffer through his ignorance if you can't cope and want hrt ask to be referred to a specialist. Hope you get better soon x

Hello karenja and sorry you are suffering like this.

I take Utrogestan for progesterone but I think you've already tried this.

I agree with dazned and think you may want to see a specialist or email Dr Curry.  I know it's exhausting but there has to be something out there for you.

Take heart, you are not alone.

thank you both, unforutunately there is not a menopause clinic where I live so I think emailing Dr Currie is my best option now x

My meno clinic is around fifty miles away but it was worth the journey three times a year. How close is your nearest one Karenja?

I found a great gynecologist who specializes in menopause, he is private though but worth every penny!

Probably as much as your petrol Taz. ! At today's prices  ;D

They have closed all our meno clinics, now it's a trip to Glasgow but well worth the journey if you need specialist advice.

Have you looked for your nearest clinic karenja....might not be as far as you think.

However they may all say what others have said already. "stick with it longer and don't chop and change"

Sorry to raise this but you have to stick with it for longer :)
Took me 6 months+ to get back to where I was feeling less ill and more like old me (on one HRT option).

Hope you get this fixed soon.

Have you tried utrogestan vaginally?
That way, it doesn't have to go through your stomach, liver, etc
I used to take it orally but when my period came it would be really strange, scanty, etc.
I think a lot of women who start taking utro vaginally seem to get on better with it.
I pop my utro pills in on a night, when I am in bed, just before I go to sleep.
I have a packet of wipes handy in the bedroom, just because I am a bit weird like that, even though I keep my vagina clean, and free from fishy odours, I associate it with bad fishy smells and don't want fishy fingers. That's just me though.
Vaginal utro suits me greatly, along with evorel patch.

Hi karenja

There is another progestogen that is available separately called Provera which you may tolerate better than Utrogestan although I seem to remember have you experienced side effects form all those that you've tried so far?
http://www.menopausematters.co.uk/to_progestogens.php

As far as I can see it's not in any of the other peri HRT types you will have tried so might be worth a shot?

However as peegeetip says, you do need to try each type for a decent amount of time, difficult though it might be, because they work slightly differently and your body needs to adjust!
