Dazned it'll be well deserved! Our son has to wait until September to find out if he'll be made redundant. Bit like a headless chicken at the moment.

Know that feeling CG ,however at the time I was more concerned about me feeling better  :-\
Selfish I know but makes you realize that money isn't everything sometimes.

I booked a short break for the end of Sept. Back to the Trossachs. I really just wanted a stay at home holiday but that would not go down well with mother or sister. The attitude is if your at home things must go on as normal.....so given the fact I cannot contemplate not going till next year without a break from duties I booked another holiday.

Sad situation really, but on the other hand I get to go away again  :)

::) - I don't know.  She's talking about asking his brother and wife along ……. we go out with them if we visit Mum so there's no difference there, it's my anxiety that is different and less under control  :'(.  Don't think my Sister will turn up  :-\ …… it's nice that Mum wasn't us together, Dad took us for a celebratory meal for years after we were wed (that didn't do gut anxiety any good either oh how I suffered to keep family happy) but again; it's the feeling of someone wanting to do something for me/us.  It is 40 after all …….

We will stay at hers and take it from there …… usually go on the Thursday and come away on the Sunday …..

Look on the bright side CLKD your Mum may well invite her, she may think you want a nice big family get together   ;D

Do you normally celebrate your wedding anniversary with your mother?

This is way off the holiday topic....but.... ;D ....when has that ever stopped us.

It's my daughters 21st in November ...my mother has asked me if we are having a get together. I asked my daughter if that's what she wanted and I was told NO WAY  ::)
Mother told me it didn't matter what my DD wanted ...it's what I decided. I dont work like that so I foresee a lot of digs at me nearer the time. It's my daughters choice.

Families......as far away as possible as far as I'm concerned.

CLKD.....you do what you and hubby are comfortable with.

Wow ruby wedding  :medal:

It is about what you two want  at the end of the day but it is nice that your mother wants to do something to mark the occasion !

It is nice as she's 88 and who knows  ::) and to be fair, her and Dad gave us a Lovely Wedding  :) ……. the 3 Valium the day before helped  ;)

When first married they would travel to where ever we were living to take us for a meal …….. then time lapsed and we tended to spend it on our own, 10 years ago we went to Dornie and spent 4 lovely days on Skye.  Birthdays are usually spent together alone  ;)

We were engaged on my 21st and again, her and Dad gave 2 lovely parties - I remember having acute anxiety attacks that weekend though  :'(

Your DD has made up her mind ……… maybe a meal out before/after?
