Yep, I'll go with that Penguin.

( even if so start getting those happy excited feelings browsing at online gift catalogues mid November. But that can remain just between you and me...)

Funny, but we have a 6 year old staying with us this weekend and just realised she has been humming Deck The Halls since yesterday. That's too much even for me 🤣

Or, and my final offer, is first Sunday I. Advent, so 3rd December this year 🤣
The grinch is happy. Can we enforce that in the shops too?? 22nd Dec is plenty early enough for Xmas shopping.

Or even 1st January when Sales were exactly that: queuing for hours for the stores to open ....... not sales all the year round  >:(

See, I'm settled down with a Baileys and the 1951 version of a Christmas Carol on at 5pm on the 24th 🤣. Although I do have an aunt that would buy her turkey just before the shops closed on that day!

I do agree with you on that, Boxing Day sales are no longer boxing day sales are they
Mind you, I used to opt to work on boxing day when i was at uni when it was double time.

I read that stores are putting the Christmas stuff out in the hope of generating sales as retail is suffering at the moment. Not sure it helps really, as personally I feel like it devalues everything. Instead of the delight of seeing new decorations in November and getting excited, it becomes the "same old same old" display I walk past for 4 months, so I'm less inclined to buy as it's currently too early, and then just old and boring.

Did you know you can get tree decorating services to decorate your tree. That seems sad to me as every decoration we have was bought for a special memory and I love reminiscing as I out them on / take them off every year.

Hi getting_old - I suppose if 1 lives in a large mansion then standing back to guide someone up and down that ladder might be OK.  I think many of us have family decs from years ago ........ which makes it the tradition for each family.
