The first Christmas without a parent is really hard, lost my mum in 2021 and refused to make any plans as I didn't want people to have expectations of me that I couldn't meet. The second Christmas was one of lots of memories, still hard, but I was more able to feel grateful for them rather than just upset.

We always take our tree down before new year too, sometimes even on the 30th if I've really peaked early!

What do U do with the real tree Penguin?  Some Zoos take them for the animals.  Some Councils pulp them for recycling. 

One can hire a tree apparently: it's dug up, potted, the company take it back; unpot and replant it.  Apparently 1 gets the same tree each year   

I also decorate the holly tree outside the front door.  No one else seems to notice 

I'm sure I'd notice, we do walk around the local streets with the dog of an evening to see all the different houses. I'm really naughty for peaking in windows as I pass to see other people's trees too 🤣

We recycle the tree either via the council or through the local shop we bought it from.

I didn't know you could hire a tree, that's a reaply good idea but wonder how much they grow in a year and how long before they no longer fit 😕

Elf the Musical is on in London but the tickets are ridiculously expensive, for two adults and two children would be 500 quid for average seats
