Don't try to compete groundhog?  Buy them something different? They like your company so maybe a set of videos to watch together?  Or a morning cooking together, some input time rather than encouraging them to sit in front of a screen?

Little notes inside nice cards with IOUs?   A walk in the park?  Cooking?  Cinema?

May not be 'properly' Christmas yet, but it's first of December ... so the tree and window decorations are up in the office, my fairy lights are round my monitor, and I've opened the first door of my Advent calendar (treated myself to a Slimming World-friendly M&S calendar that has a cosmetic product each day - today was a lovely tined moisturiser!).  So I'm feeling pretty festive - bring it on!!

Someone suggested gift cards to me.  A certain ubiquitous coffee chain does them, and it means the friend or relative of your choice can treat themselves to a cuppa on you when out, which they may have thought twice about.  Also, chain restaurants like wagamama and nando and cinemas - good for young people moving house or going to uni.

Have you made the cake dahllagirl or is the fruit still soaking 


DH went to the supermarket at lunch time and came back with mince pies we had one after lunch but it will take more than a mince pie to get me in the festive spirit  .

Hubby decided yesterday he was feeling inexplicably festive and wanted the tree up - well, I wasn't going to argue!  So it's up and looking lovely.  This is by far the earliest we've every put the tree up, but we've both said we're feeling very festive this year (we have no idea why!) - so we're going with the flow and enjoying it!

Well I am starting to feel festive.  I have bought some new tree decorations from the supermarket, and I have a relative coming to stay, so preparations will have to be made.

I haven't bought a tree yet but usually do it by about the 6th. I was working last Saturday so couldn't.

Personally, I feel that life rattles past so quickly, and each year brings new challenges and harder mountains to climb, I want to enjoy things that bring me pleasure for as long as I can!  So the tree (which brings me a lot of pleasure) has gone up 'early' - and it makes me smile every time I see it.  But it's all personal taste - I know people who will put a tree up on Christmas Eve and take in down on Boxing Day!
