A sleep consultant prescribed me 30mg tablets of codeine for RLS. My GP has been prescribing it for me for several years. It works for me, and because my RLS is sporadic I have not got hooked on the codeine.

Magnesium gave me the 'runs'
Tonic water can help but I hate the taste

Try splitting the dose so you take half morning and half evening. Also make sure it's a good quality one. I take one which is a mixture of magnesium oxide and hydroxide. Total of 375mg of magnesium with Bs 1-6 plus B12. The runs should subside after a few days once your systems got used to it. Also excellent for aches and pains. Forgot to take them on holiday with me and felt like I'd been kicked by a horse by the time I got back.

Mine have got worse in meno just as they did in pregnancy. It can be so frustrating & if I could take them off for an hour I would. I hate banana too. I wiggle them if they are bad when I sit down & keep them cool when in bed. It's comes & goes though. My only fix is not to sit down & to go to bed exhausted which isn't really practical but good for the ironing pile etc. B x
