Ladycare Magnet and hot flushes
« on: July 04, 2014, 04:47:45 PM »

Hi everyone,
I thought I'd let you know how I'm getting on with the Ladycare Magnet which I have been using 24 hours a day for 7 months!
I was told about this by a friend when we went out to dinner and I was having several hot flushes and so miserable I was about to see GP about Hrt.  She said she tried the magnet and hadn't had a hot flush since, but she did get a period and then all settled!  As my flushes were bad during the day, I've counted 25 and sleeping was a nightmare, quilt on/off, ceiling fan on constantly, husband freezing lol!  I thought what have I got yo lose.
I ordered one and was so hoping this would work.  I ached all over, grumpy as I was sooooooo tired from lack of sleep and just flushing constantly.  When it arrived and read the instructions about wearing it 24 hours a day and that it could take 2-6 months to show any improvement I was a little disheartened, but I had to see.  About a week in a little difference as flushes appeared to be less intensive.  Could this be in my head?  After a month flushes greatly reduced.  2 months in flushes stopped.  No fan at night.
After 3 months my breasts became sore, period pains seemed to be happening and I had a very heavy period which lasted a few days.  I hadn't had a period for 6 months prior to this.
7 months in not one hot flush, I have had another heavy period for a week just over 3 weeks ago, no breast soreness, a little pelvic pain beforehand.
For me my life has been turned around.  I can only put this to wearing my ladycare magnet 24 hours a day.  I am too worried not to wear the magnet as I am doing so well.  AND a bonus for me is my sex drive is back! ;) which is amazing as I honestly lost interest completely!
My husband is amazed at the difference in me and so am I!
The only downside is yes, you do stick to all things metal which makes me giggle as people must think I'm a ladyboy getting excited every time I touch the chairs or lean on radiators to wave out of windows ;D  ;D

Hi and Welcome Dnilasor51
Thank you for sharing your experience - all very interesting. You are obviously still in peri menopause so hormones all over the place but it's good to hear the magnet is helping to keep you balanced. Keep us posted about how things are as time goes on.  It'll be interesting to know how you are once the periods stop completely and oestrogen levels get lower.
It's lovely to get a good news story.  Dg x

Hi

Am interested to know how you are getting on with the magnet these days?
I've been wearing one for the last week or so, but not noticed any difference yet.
I don't know what to believe with these things, and just bought mine out of desperation in the summer.
I was easily put off by reading about lots of failures, so I left it a couple of months before trying it.

Hi Dnilasor51

 :welcomemm: from me too

I am so glad to hear that your flushes have stopped for the time being and you are getting your sex drive back, but as Dancinggirl suggests your hormones are still fluctuating because you have not yet reached menopause.

Although it seems like it was due to the magnet, the most likely reason your flushes stopped at this time is because your oestrogen levels began to rise again - and the periods restart which shows some return to your cycle. In fact there is no scientific basis whatsoever for the magnet although I can see it can provide a laugh!

Do make the most of this time, because eventually as you get further into peri-menopause, and your oestrogen levels decrease permanently - you may well find that your flushes return. For your sake I hope not!

There is an excellent article written about the peri-menopause by Dr Currie who founded this website which tells you what is going on in your body at this time:

http://www.menopausematters.co.uk/article-perils-of-the-perimenopause.php

The reason you had a heavy period after a few months is also explained in this article - as you approach menopause and the ovaries start to pack up, in some cycles ovulation does not occur but if oestrogen levels are still high then the womb lining continues to build up, until a month when ovulation occurs, and then there may be several months build up = heavy period.

By the way I am very surprised (and also disappointed) to hear that your GP recommended this as a treatment instead of HRT - you haven't said how old you are but oestrogen is the best way to deal with a whole host of menopausal symptoms, provided your medical history allows it, and if you are under the natural average age of menopause of 51 -52 then it is recommended to help protect your bones and heart.

Hope you continue to feel well.
