Hello all, I have been on the oestrogel (3 pumps) and Utrogestan (1 tablet vaginally every other night) regime now for 2 months now after finally making the decision to go for it. I am 50 and no idea where I am in the Menopause as I had an ablation 5 years ago after very heavy and frequent periods. I've been getting lots of symptoms for some years so presumed I am perimenopausal but had some blood tests last month and the Doctor said to continue with 3 pumps as my oestrogen levels were normal and that my FSH level was very high at 79.6 so I am peri or post... Guessing I will never know when I am actually post, or if I ever need to know?
The main reason for this message is that I've been getting awful reflux so started on omeprazole, but this gave me a very tight chest (or the reflux did as I'm asthmatic!) so I dropped that and am now just guzzling gaviscon and upping the exercise/healthy diet regime. But I've been wondering, I have read so many other women getting reflux amongst the other symptoms (of which mine seem to be plenty like everyone else), could the reflux be due to taking oestrogen or is it purely a menopausal symptom (assuming no other lifestyle factors)?
If my reflux and other symptoms continue while on Estrogel, would I then gradually increase the dose until my symptoms disappear or should I wait a full 3 months to review? I have certainly slept better since starting the gel and I don't have any hot flushes any more, but I do have irritability, brain fog, strange weak limbs in the morning etc. I wasn't sure if I just accept the benefits now with the current dose or if I am aiming for a utopian catch-all effect?!! Thanks for listening to my waffle
