Hi Dotty,

so, if i take them everyday, does that mean i won't get a bleed?

sorry, to ask so many questions but my doctor literally told me absolutely nothing.

Thanks for your help

Hi fibrosandie...you shouldn't get a bleed if you take them every day, although breakthrough bleeding can happen in the first 3-6 months of starting hrt. x

I have been going through my diary of symptoms and there is a definate pattern that I fee better on the Utrogestron. Could this be a coincidence as most people feel bad on it? I use it vaginally so obviously do not want to take it continuously.
My specialist has advised this bit to change it to orally which I am apprehensive doing as I’m not good with any forms of tablets

Hi Everyone
This thread is fabulous, so supportive so I wonder if anyone can shed some light on my current issues.
Aged 46 and have been peri for just over a year, periods regular, tried Femoston 1/10 and 2/10 to begin with but
didn't get on with them. Been using Oestrogel (2 pumps daily) and Utrogestan 100mg days 1-25 with 5 day break as prescribed by my GP.
Things improved, however my mood was very flat....read that this could be the Utrogestan.
After reading this thread I noticed that women who are still have periods generally are taking the Utrogestan on days
15-26 (2 x 100mg orally or 1 x 100mg vaginally). After speaking to my GP she agreed that perhaps I should change the way
I take the Utrogestan to see if it improves my mood, so I opted for taking it on days 15-26, 1 x 100mg vaginally and I also started taking an extra pump of gel.
All seems to be going well, my mood is better and I feel more like my old self. However this cycle my period was delayed by 2/3 days and today (Day 2 ) and yesterday I have had the most severe cramping for over 3 hours (this happened on Femoston). In fact I have had to take 2 days off work because it feels like I am in labour. Excrutiating cramps, Tingling in legs, feet & hands, nausea, vomiting, disorientation - not sure if this is beacuse the pain is so intense. The weird thing is I have not bled today and only bled a little yesterday although it was a bit clotty (sorry!) I am so confused :( Do you think this is due to the extra pump of gel? Or the change in how I take Utrogestan? Really don't know what to think. I seriously can't cope with having labour type pains every month. Please, please any help or advise would be most welcome

Hello ladies, sorry I'm jumping in here but I'm currently on holiday abroad and need some urgent advice, my regime is the utrogestan x12 day's and evorel 50 patch but due to circumstances at home and then this holiday I have gone 8 week's between cycles (therefore missing out one month) and today I have have began bleeding, we're only a few days from the end of the holiday and I was wondering if I start using the utrogestan now (vaginally like I always do) will it stop the bleed? At the moment it's only light but I'm terrified the flood gates will open, we have a sightseeing day planned with friends tomorrow and I don't want to ruin it, I don't have any sanitary products with me either. I'm 58 and 6 years post meno and I've been on this regime for almost 5 years, only thing different is I changed From estradot patch to evorel due to the current shortages 5 months ago. Any advice appreciated asap, hoping the bleed will just be a"show" but basically will taking the utrogestan now stop it?

Hi lovely Ladies
I have only just signed up but have looked at the site many times and particularly like ‘Hurdity’s’ extremely informative posts ❤️
I need a bit of help I am a bit of a ‘Talker’ but will try and curb my natural instinct to ‘Rabbit’ lol! However I am a firm believer if you don’t have all the facts and the background info (and that’s on anything!) then how can you give an informed answer/decision .....so here goes.......
I have been on HRT for about 8 years altogether all good to start with then about 3 years ago fell into a downward spiral and was extremely depressed (wanted to jump in the Sea whilst on Holiday with my lovely Hubby & not for a paddle!) Thankfully on my return I did some research (read all of Dr J Strutt’s papers etc) and demanded my Doc refer me to the Chel&Westminster Meno Clinic the only NHS one in the whole of Kent and the SE.
They are absolutely brilliant cannot praise them highly enough, but they are so so busy......my quandary is I had a Mirena Coil HRT one fitted last year alongside the 4 daily pumps of Estrogel and 1 squirt of Tostan twice a week but had incredible bloating continually and gained over a Stone in weight I have always been extremely active taught Martial Arts for 20+ years alongside my day job ......and had a ‘feeling’ that my body was trying to dispel the Coil. I had a Contraceptive one many years ago and managed to expel it which I didn’t know till I went to Whitechapel Hospital thinking I had ‘lost’ it!! So they suggested removing it which they did 2 weeks ago and gave me Norethisterone 5mg a day in addition to the aforementioned regime. They looked at my scans again and said my Womb was small and a bit ?? Thought she said tiilted but a medical term and I didn’t ask what exactly-doh! Said  they thought the Mirena was too big for me & I should have the Jaydess one when they are able to resume fitting them  I said I would try the tablets and let them know. In 3-4 days the tummy bloating had gone down dramatically (My Daughter who is avidly taking notes for when it’s her turn, God love her! Confirmed it was true and not because I willed it!) both her & Hubby noticed that I had become ‘spikier’ than is naturally usual.......I’m 5ft and born in the North it’s in my genes & my Parents are from the South of Ireland 😁.......I feel I am trying to be upbeat as desperately want everything to work and I know I am heaps luckier than lots of peeps on here but I have had my fair share of crap over the years, but am an external optimist if sometimes a bit ‘ranty’ with it........could the Norethisterone (Which I am taking at bedtime, I couldn’t find any info on when it should be taken) be making me tired, yawning all day, joints hurting, suddenly constipated! Know it’s mega hot but hands and ankles swollen, hands sort of tingly, buzzing almost  I have been a competitive Martial Artist in my time so am very aware of small changes in my body.........Previously I was on Utrogestan 100mg 1-2 tabs nightly but was still having bleeding hence them putting the Mirena in but I will be 58 in 5 days time so surely can’t still have a bleed........my feeling is that the Progestrone part of the mix is not right for me somehow.......Apologies for the length of this and if there is anybody out there that has had similar or can offer any advice I would be most grateful. Anniexx🙏

I am on 7pumps due to poor absorption and the last week has been pretty good. I am a week before my period and today I can feel things changing again for the worse. My specialist has advised increasing to 8! Anyone else on such high amounts ?

Baby - what are you on now? I'm on 4 pumps and hot flushes, night sweats, insomnia blah blah are all back. I'm waiting on appt with gynae as 5mm lining and adenomyosis so don't want to risk upping my oestrogen without consultation. If upping it would even work... 🙄. Feeling a little despondent.

Feeling dreadful today! Remain on 7 pumps and cannot get hold of my specialist whether I should increase to 8 as I am in the run up to my period or whether actually I am now on too much! Any ideas welcomed? I feel like stopping it all and see what happens as I feel so bad on this regime

Can’t stop crying really weak body and don’t know what to do! Can’t get hold of anyone for advice. I’ve been advised to increase from 3 pumps to 7 and I’ve done this within 3 weeks! Now Feel this is too much but specialist wants me to go up to 8! Really confused and worried. When I spoke last week about my results being read in pg and pmol the specialist said this doesn’t matter but surely this is not right?

Hi I was wondering if someone could give me some advice please. I started estrogel today   My period before starting was 12 days late. I didn’t know if I should have waited for period to start first. Do I take gel from now till day 12 then start utrogestan 12/26 then when do I restart gel on it’s own again? Would this be after bleed. When should you start to feel effects ? Can you feel them straight away as feeling really bloated and crampy!
Thanks. X

I wonder if I can have some advice/suggestions please? I've at last got a referral to a 'menopause clinic' (NHS), near the end of the week. I've been on 2 pumps of oestrogel for over a year, along with utrogestan, which I'm taking 5 nights a week, vaginally, ive not discussed that with gp, as they've not much idea, so I've done that off my own bat. I'm supposed to be on it every night orally, but from the past, I think I'm not good with progesterone.
I only got a referral because my gp said 2 pumps was the maximum dose! And I also would be interested in trying testosterone...I'm still in hell, anxiety and mood wise etc, though at least the hot flushes and sweats are much lessened.
I would like tests, as I'm so all over the place, putting a lot of weight on also, but what I'm wondering, is how to approach the consultant....what and how do I ask for? I really don't want to try synthetic hormones.  I'm used to being fobbed off, as I've had ME for 30 years and fibromyalgia for 20, but I really don't want that to happen, as I'm desperate, mood wise, and have so many extra symptoms, that may or may not be due to the Menopause (last period was 5 years ago by the way).
Any suggestions gratefully received,  I'm rubbish with getting through to doctors!
Thanks in advance 🙂
