Sorry Sammiejane - I'm no help - it's all too confusing for me! I don't know if to apply androfeme tonight or in the morning x

I'm switching from continuous to cyclic. The packaging for my Estrogel (in Canada) says for cyclical to take days 1-25 of a calendar month, or days 1-21 of a 28 day cycle. I think I saw somewhere in this forum that that is old instructions, and that we are to take it every single day with no break, am I mistaken? How do you all take it?

hi lucyjo

the only reason i ask is that i use 3 pumps gel and have noticed thinning hair i've lost 50 percent in 11 mths being in it and wondered if it's because i don't take progesterone or testosterone ? or if the estradiol itself causing thinning because i didn't suffer before i started hrt

Hi Sammie, I think the only way you'll find out is for you to stop taking the Estrogel. If you're on Vagifem I would still continue with that. You could try a gradual reduction in the gel and see how you go. Unfortunately that's the only way you'll find out if it's the Estrodrial causing your hair loss petal.. X

Started Androfeme this morning! Do you all measure it out in the applicator every day or just guess??
Also, how do you clean out the applicator - mine wouldn't clean and had to use a cotton bud - what a faff!

hi Tracey E

i think your right the only way i'll no is to stop it , i guess changing to a patch would make no difference as still same ingredient estradiol ? i don't know why i'm having issues because i never did on the pill and is on option i'm considering , but you i took combined pill and wonder if i'm shedding so much hair because i take estrogen only not progesterone ! so hard to decide what to do ! all menopause say is it up to me i can stay on gel and take progesterone or swap to patch and see how hairloss goes and i did do this to estradot patch and to be fair hairloss in the weeks i was on it was worse so again making me wonder if it's lack progesterone ! plus testosterone because before taking hrt i didn't have hairloss or if i did very minor it was lovely and thick still hrt has exelerated it and now is half as thick and i'm 5 yrs post menopause so cant be low estrogen really ! but i guess the only thing to do is stop it , how soon should i notice a difference ?
how are you doing now since stopping your hrt !

I'm fine tbh still got a few palps and a but if acid reflux but other than that good. Energy levels have returned and my aches n pains have gone. :)

I noticed the hair loss had eased after a couple of weeks. I never had any issues with the contraceptive pill either but then again my bodily Estrogen was probably a lot higher back then. Tough call Sammie but if you leave it off for a couple of months you should no one way or the other.

Hi All,

I've just been to a new Gynae for a pap test and also had a TVS, she said my endometrium was very thin, so I'm now thinking that I can reduce my Utrogestan from 100mg every three days to 100mg every 7 days (continuous) or perhaps even less than that?. I use Estrogel but just half a pump daily. I'm seeing my regular GP in 5 weeks so can discuss with her then and also having a uterine scan in Jan.

Does this sound sensible? I'd love to reduce the Utro to as little as possible tbh.

Hi Shannonplussed, I am in Canada too and take estrogel. Apparently if you are considered menopausal then you take it continuously. I take it continuously because of this. My friend, however, still gets periods sometimes so she takes it cyclically. I hope this helps.

Hi ladies - may I join?  Just had my regime changed :-)

Symptoms started 3 years.  Tried natural for a year, had 36 hour migraines, severe vomiting with the migraines, hot flushes, fatigue, no libido, so asked to go on HRT.  I was put on 50mcg Evoril Conti, symptoms lessened slightly but this past year, they have got worse and worse.  I have been on it past 20 months.  They wouldn't change it, last GP I saw actually tried to get me to cut down the dose!    So I finally saw a private GP as I was just on the floor basically, with next to no social life.  How I've managed to hold down a full time job, I just have no idea.

Oestrogen level is 44 pmol/L and Testosterone 0.4 nmol/L

She has prescribed me 2 x pumps Oestrogel (which will be upped when my BP has come down)
100mg Utrogestan - one a night
Testogel

Started 4 days ago.

That lot cost me around £90 but the Testogel and Utrogestan should last quite a long time.

Re the Oestrogel, can I ask you how long one pump pack lasts?  I have been given 2 pump packs (which were £30) and I was amazed at what a large amount of gel one pump was.  Almost covered my whole arm!  I cannot see how one pack is supposed to have 64 doses unless it's a Tardis...…..I do hope my NHS GP will take over the prescription.

Thank you ladies - lovely to have like minded ladies to talk to and share with - have felt quite alone past 3 years   xx

Yes the pump packs are a bit like a tardis  ;D  2 pumps should last a month Dotty is right. I'm on 4 so get a fortnight out of each one! Each pump is metered but they work really great as you get to the end you will know and the dispense every last drop too - clever! ???

Thank you ladies for the replies.  I have such puny arms, that huge amount of gel almost covers all of it!   Maybe I should try outer thigh.    Though I put the Testogel on inner thigh, not sure if I should swap it around a bit.

Ladybt28 - as you get through one pump a fortnight, how many pumps do you get prescribed each time?  Be a bit of a pain having to go to the docs so frequently otherwise!

Heavenlyblue - I don't think I worded my post right! ;D  You read "one pump a fortnight". blimy that's beyond low  ;D ;D
I use 4 pumps a day!  So my pump pack lasts me a fortnight on average.  Dotty is right 2 pumps a day means 1 pump pack should last you 32 days or a month.

My repeat prescriptions give me 4 packs each time which means that I get enough gel for 8 weeks at a time!  Must be clearer next time - sorry if I confused you :-X

So ref testosterone - I move the site I use around. I put on in the inside of my ankle, sometimes on the outside of my knee and sometimes on my wrist.  As I use loads of gel I find my thighs are best - there is a greater surface area! ;D ;D - very much greater  ;D ;D >:( ;D

You did put it right!  It was me leaving a word off that confused matters....when I said 'you use one pump a fortnight,'  I meant one pump pack!     ;D  That makes perfect sense, 4 pump packs lasts you 8 weeks.  I have only been given 2 packs to start me off because it's my first time on it.  I'm desperate to up the dose because I now know the dose is too low for me but until I have a normal BP reading, I have to stay on 2 pumps.....patience is not my strongest point!

Thank you for all the tips with where I can put all the gel...…...blimey, I will slide off the couch at this rate.   ;D

Well here I am again. Same old same old.

Switched from patch to sandrena 2mg  and from cycle 200 utro to conti 100.  I felt the eastrogen dip within a week.  Now nearly 3 weeks on the utro and I feel exactly how I did before on it.  It starts off after a few days by crying , then very quickly descends to deep depressive state then anxiety kicks in.  Then it a seems to manifest itself physically, shaking, being sick, chest pains.
So I'm back here again. Cant take utrogestan it makes me realy realy I'll and . Eastrogen isnt high enough to counteract it.  Same old story.
