I found this link by Dr Rashna Chenoy, who is a consultant Gynaecologist in London so very informative and reassuring, well worth a read for those concernerd about various issues in the use of HRT.

Is this his own personal opinion? I haven't read all of it so sorry if I've missed any trial data etc. Interesting though.

Excellent information especially the bit about HRT and Older Women.
Taz the info is main stream, the only problem is she does use a lot of abbreviation's that medical types will understand but laymen may not.

I read the other day that they are starting trials with women using an estrogen patch on the upper arm to study the effects on memory.

I actually found it extremely easy to understand and love the way she has laid it out almost in summary form, but I do have a bit of a med background and have worked for GP's. It is very positive as well and yes, I am amazed about the HRT for older women, there is indeed hope ladies.

Cassie there are just two things that I did not agree on, the estrogen nasal spray mentioned (Aerodiol) I used years ago, but is not available now, due to a manufacturing problem, last time I asked my GP.
The other one was that HRT did not cause weight gain, for some women it does and can testify to that.

Yes, interesting reading, however I wonder what she means:
Osteo Protection:
"Life-long HRT is advised for bone protection."
Cessation of HRT
:
"Aim to cease HRT after 5 years of use, if not sooner."
So take HRT life long (if you can get your GP/meno clinic to agree) if at risk of osteoporosis? Aren't we all at risk of osteoporosis as we age?

Must admit I did note a few contradictions but I have noted that on lots of info I have read on HRT advice.

Yes it's a good summary of HRT types and when to give them etc. Some of the products listed are not available though eg dydrogesterone, and norethisterone is not usually prescribed separately except by specialist gynaes. Ditto some of the patches.
It is laid out like that because it is a pdf of a powerpoint presentation so I imagine this would be from a medical lecture eg to students or something.
