Hi
I'm a new member in my early 40s. I haven't been able to find a forum for perimenopause and haven't been able to see a section on this forum. Am I missing it?
Thanks

All mixed in as far as I know -- but since the symptoms don't stop as menopause itself that should mean you can find the help you need.

Hi jazziepants and welcome to MM.
Theres no particular section just for perimenopause, we're all at different stages in the process. Just post your questions in whichever section you think appropriate and someone with relevant experience will come along for a chat.
I'm peri myself, 51 and 2 years on hrt so if i can help plz ask away, or i'm sure others will offer advice too.

Hi Jazzi
I'm here too - 41 and MM has been a great reassurance and confidence booster. So thankful to have people who know exactly what it's like and for them to give sound advice. I was struggling to function so opted for HRT tried ellest duet only managed 2 packs as the green progest. Phase made me feel vile!!! Now on prempak c to see if they are any better. My problem is I don't want a 3 month trial! It seems so long and I'm impatient I would much rather have a 3 minute fix!!
Hey ho hey ho it's off to pop the pills I go
Good luck and keep in touch

You might get a "fix" faster than three months. I felt better within a week, then it slowly improved.
Good luck!

The advice in this country is the three month trial to give the HRT a chance to work and balance out your hormones.
I do understand if you are suffering bad side effects then to ask for a change but what we all have to understand is it a replacement therapy and not a magic potion and it can take time and patience to feel the full benefits.

Harana:
Just hang in there....everyone is different so it might work faster than you think. Remember that it took a while for your hormones to deplete and it will take a while for them to build back up. Like honeybun says, it is a replacement for what you have lost. Luckily, I got more energy and was able to start sleeping better within a week of starting HRT, though it took longer for other symptoms to slowly abate. You might be like me and get a "fix" faster than you think....at least enough so you can manage. The waiting is hard...I know
.
Hormones are pretty powerful as we can see from all the symptoms of not having any....changes have to be made slowly.

Hi Jazziepants
I was peri from mid 30s - I am now 57 and way past meno. You hormones will probably go up and down for some while befoer you come out the other side.
I have used Oestrogel through most of my HRT treatment. I have had Oestogel with a Mirena for the last 4 years which is quite a good option as you can use the amount of Oestrogel that keeps symptoms like flushes under control. If you don't want a Mirena, many find that Utrogestan is a good option - a progesterone that is bio-identical so has fewer side effects.
REad up as much as you can on this site and keep posting questions - there are lots of ladies with wide experience and knowledge to help.
