Kegel8 - can't get darn thing in...
« on: August 27, 2013, 10:58:35 PM »

Just got a Kegel8 as sure have slight leaks - can never feel the
but by the end the day I notice wetness and def urine smell. Delightful. Did lots of research on here and elsewhere and looking forward to trying out this evening however even with tons of the lubricant can't get it in a d really hurts even now...

In true menopausal fashion it's upset me SO much. Feel like a freak. Don't think I can face phoning helpline to say I haven't had sex except with myself/vibrator for 5 years. TMI I apologise but I though I enjoy I never insert it - all clitoral and nipple - and now seem to have sealed up...

Anyone had same? Just feel dare not ever even date again if can't even use a damn plastic probe

Lovely, I can't help with the Kegel thing but just wanted to assure you that you are not a freak and that sometimes I can't even get a skinny little Vagifem applicator in without a struggle!

I found that I have to wiggle the applicator into a certain position in order to get it in - maybe you need to try a few different angles with the Kegel?  Don't give up yet - maybe just try a ltitle way in each day until it starts to go in a bit further each time.

I know what you mean about "sealed up" - I feel the same - and it does make you feel very upset.

Thanks Ariadne. Makes me feel better. Gonna swallow that pride and talk to the helpline as machine was too expensive to stick in a cupboard, that's for sure.

Hi Lovely - have you mentioned this to your GP. As well using the Kegel (if you can actually get it in)  it would be wise to get a referral to a specialist of the pelvic floor so that you can be examined to see what exactly is causing your leakage. Could you have a prolapse which can make it very difficult to insert anything.

Thanks Taz. Yes will go to GP. This one I have now is quite sympathetic.

When I think back, discomfort after intercourse was sometimes an issue before my relationship broke up. GP then informed me that I was traumatised by the fast birth of my daughter. Didn't matter how much I told her I REALLY wasn't - in fact given my dread of childbirth, the experience was really OK and a great epidural  was swiftly given and I felt well supported and the speed was fine - back in time for tea, as my partner used to say -  and I felt much more in control than I'd ever imagined, even when it hurt before the epidural.

But she wouldn't have it. So bossy and annoying. I had quite a big tear (though no, I wasn't traumatised by it!)  and I sometimes think was sewn up (painlessly...!) quite tight - and I'm quite small anyway.

Have ordered a "comfort probe". They're doing very well out of me!

Hi there,
I know what you mean about not being able to insert it......are you using the gel?   I find I need to use at least two pumpfulls and have to absolutely absolutely saturate/cover every part of the probe.

I am wondering if the GP meant physical not mental trauma caused by childbirth.  In which case she would be correct.

I know I must seem like the prophet of gloom about these kegel machines, but please do proceed with caution and stop it and talk with your doctor/nurse/physio if it hurts you or you get a nasty discharge or bleeding.

My vaginal tissue was too thin and fragile for it and the probe broke the skin and caused infection, which it took months to heal as the tissue was in such a state.

Great if you can use it but do be on the alert for soreness.

Crikey, I've never heard of that,   I will be VERY cautious in future.   I can certainly understand why you must feel very wary of them.

It could just have been my age and stage  :'( so you will probably be absolutely fine - just don't persevere if you get sore.

With VA even lovemaking can cause damage to fragile vaginal tissue.

I have a device similar to the kegel8 and although I was fine with it at first I think it may have caused me some damage so I no longer use it.

I must go back to my old kegelmaster.  Although you have to manually do the exercises at least with it you know that you are doing them correctly.

What I do find now after intercourse is that the thin skin nearest the perineum has been stretched and feels sore, it's where my episiotomy scar is if that is relevant.
