thickened endometrium (uterus)

I am 55 years old, post menopause, i recently had a scan with showed the endometrium to be 16mm thick, i DON'T have any bleeding, i was called to go for a biopsy last tuesday,but it was so painful they are now doing it under a general tomorrow, has anyone has similar problems? and what was the outcome? consultant said the was checking for cancer

 :welcomemm:  ...... not had this problem but you seem to be getting the support required.  Reported symptoms and what is probably the 'usual' pathway to getting a result, with which you can be provided with treatment/not if necessary.  Who will be driving you there adn back?

It's probably standard procedure.  I'm going for a scan for my stomach pain.  GP is pretty certain it's HRT but wants to ensure it isnt ovarian cancer (yes, she actually said that!)

Hi Saltygirl - welcome to the forum.

It is usual to have a thickened lining checked out just to rule out endometrial cancer. Good luck for tomorrow. Do you know what the reason was for referring you for a scan?

not on hrt, was having abdominal pains for over a year and weight loss, nothing showed up in any of the tests and scans except a thickening of the uterus so my gastro consultant referred me to gyny
