CLKD - Why "Don't ask the RSPCA" for advice, they like animals don't they?  ???

The Pets Welcome book looks useful, does it cover non UK destinations?

I think your vet would be more clued up about kennels. Also a recommendation from someone who has used the kennel would be useful.

Don't think asking the RSPCA would be a bad idea as they would know if there had been any cases of neglect.

I doubt if the RSPCA would be aware of any kennels that are not up to standard unless they have been taken to Court and then would probably have been closed down.  That is not the remit of the RSPCA.

However the Local Authority and Vet should be able to tell you, as a Registered Kennel has to have a Vet on call 24/7.  Also contact dog groomers for advice?  Our Vets. won't recommend places but will have adverts on show.  I put our cats into the kennels where our Vet took their dogs though although we had used it prior to the Vet owning dogs.  I also did 14 days s/shovel work there when the owners were in Spain, the only dog which moaned or seemed up set was my own  ::) and she came home every night.  ;D

I used to dog sit.  Begin looking early ...........

I hated leaving the cats particularly when the kennel person took the baskets and I didn't get to settle them in.  When I worked in the kennels I allowed owners at least to walk their pet to the cubicle so that they knew where they would be!
