Feel like #£%&
« on: May 03, 2013, 08:32:01 AM »

Sorry to moan, but I really feel awful. I have been suffering with tiredness & aches for months now. Occasionally have good spells, but generally feel I'm fighting a losing battle. Been making myself go swimming etc. However, last night the pains were so bad I hardly slept a wink. It seems to go in cycles like this. Not too bad and gradually building up to this. Pain so bad I thought I would throw up. Last time I saw GP I had bloods done and nothing untoward showed up. Mainly tiredness was the problem then, but this time it's the pain too.  I've made an appointment for this afternoon as I don't think I can stand another night like last night, plus it's the weekend.  Last time I had a lot of pain, GP gave me amitryptiline, made not a jot of difference. Then had physio referral, but pain is back with a vengeance.
Not enjoying this ageing malarkey one little bit.

Sorry you are feeling bad CG.

I agree with you about Amitryptiline, it's not helped me with pain.
However, it was helpful in getting to sleep.

Good luck with the GP

Hi cubagirl,
A few years ago I suffered intense aches and pains - I thought at one time I'd got some kind of arthritis or bone cancer, it was that bad. I could hardly move to get out of bed in the morning.  I was so stiff. Eventually I started doing gentle exercises - just simple stretches which made a difference and relieved some of the pain.  I also took Ibruprofen and  bathed in epsom salts - instant relief for me.  These symptoms would come and go over a period of two years -  Strangely enough I'm getting what I can only describe as painful tendons and odd little shooting pains today - haven't had anything like this for awhile, but I suspect it's a little dip in my hormone levels and will go away once the hormones have settled again.  Make sure you have your thyroid and your Vit D levels checked because thyroid problems and low levels of Vit D can cause the symptoms that you're describing.

Feel better soon. x

Jess.

Sorry you are not feeling to good. Until you find out what it is can't you get some stronger painkillers. Which ones do you take?
Also, has it gone worse since you reduced your HRT?

Not got worse since reducing HRT, pretty much the same.  I was going to wait to see gynae consultant in a couple of months, but can't cope with pain any longer. Just hope GP takes me seriously as fed up having to explain similar symptoms over & over.  If she mentions depression.......  :bang: I'm fed up feeling like this, not depressed!!!
Not been checked for fibromyalgia, but was beginning to think along those lines myself.

Pain is from my shoulders to my bum cheeks. Bum feels like I've been kicked by a horse. Very stiff everywhere too even my hands. It's like flu except no other flu symptoms.

Hope you get a good result with your GP later.  Nothing worse than feeling like that, especially over a long weekend!

Is it something to do with those growths on your back?  Also, fibro is fairly easy to sort of diagnose if the doctor is smart.  Good luck with that hope.
I hate it when depression is used as what we call a 'cop out' - an excuse for anything the doctor can't diagnose.

Sure hope you get some answers and relief.

Do you take omega3 - very good for inflammation.  Agree on vitamin D3, too.

Sorry it's got so bad CG.

Maybe get checked for fibromyalgia. It's no fun feeling rubbish all the time.

I think we are all inclined to blame too much on meno when it could be something else.
I don't think that getting older should mean pain. There has to be something else going on.
I hope you get to the bottom of things.

Let us know.

Hi Cubagirl.
It sounds like fibromyalgia.     Might be worth seeing a rheumatologist for a diagnosis
if it is.

Good luck and let us know how you get on

Hi Cubagirl

Sorry to hear that you are feeling so rough - push for a diagnosis, pain is so draining.  My late Father used to have fibro-myalgia - not a pleasant condition but once appropriate treatment was prescribed he was much more comfortable.

Good Luck

My Fybro started at the same time I started being very sick because I had a twisted stomach.......the two things were not related and the stomach specialist kept saying........you are not feeling tired and flu like because of your stomach ...At the time I didn't believe him. But of course the overwhelming tired feeling continued after my operation.....I was then sent to see a rheumatologist who diagnosed Fybro.  I can go a few weeks feeling OK and then the metalic taste in my mouth starts, plus I get sores in the corner of my mouth and feel sick etc......So I can tell when it's going to start up again.....A truly awful illness..
