T he Yorkshire Dales are having a terrible time of it, cars washed away, farms land ruined
I always just hope no animals have suffered in the deluge of the river breaking it's banks

I've been watching that too.  Animals will have been washed away as the farmers couldn't reach lots of the sheep - however, had they employed a shepherd?

Rain and more rain. Just been to move cows to higher ground, they're down river from the reservoir that might collapse and don't want them drowned. The town below the res has been evacuated and roads closed where bridges cross the river downstream.

Been watching the news about the dam that could collapse, its awful all those people having to leave their homes and hard to believe this is happening in England in August!

That's where my bestie lives. Luckily her house is up the hill above the reservoir. All the roads are closed, so she can't go anywhere. Just sit and watch  :'(
Glad you moved the cows Shiela. I hope they are up really high.  If the dam breaks it will be catastrophic.

They've been pumping it out all afternoon but daren't do it too fast in case they cause more flooding. Hard to believe it's just an earth bank underneath the concrete. The place is crawling with police, mountain rescue etc. Cows are high enough up the hill now they'll be safe.

That's a lot of water to pump out. And more rain forecast. Let's hope they make it through the night.

The farm and the rest of the land is some distance away and uphill so not in danger. Just had 10 cows in a field next to the river but the valley sides are steep enough the next field up is safe (no shortage of hills here!). Four of this bunch are my bucket raised friendly mates, I'd hate anything to happen to them.
It seems they didn't force evacuation and some residents have stayed. Hope they'll be safe.
