I can think of two reasons why it's less commonly prescribed;
As far as I know the reason why it’s not so popular as bio/body identical HRT is because Tibolone has high risk of stroke, so it’s prescribed usually under the age of 60. Those, who take bio/ body identical HRT they can continue with it to the rest of life, it’s considered to be low risk HRT and so no age limit for using it.

I would have thought the only issue with wrists is becuase it is near where the bloods are taken so their may be more in the bloom stream locally. It probably depends though on how long you leave between application and the test.

I am going for the side of the foot and have not noticed any hair growth. I read it is better absorbed in areas of high vascularity and noticed a lot of small veins there. I also read in areas of high body fat (e.g buttocks, thighs) it is more likely to convert to oestrogen.

Hia,

Thanks for clearing that up, though I still don't fully understand because bloods are not taken from the wrist are they,
but from the top of the forearm/inner elbow crease area.

My feet are quite dry so can't see me absorbing anything there, even the thick emollient cream I apply regularly.

Interesting merrygoround what you say about timeline.  I took it a few years ago and found it easy to manage, except for initial acne.  It caused bleeding which stopped when I stopped tiblone.  Got scared so have only been on local hrt since.  It did sort out hot flushes.  How long have you taken it as I want to try hrt again and maybe go back on tiblone.  I thought it was advised for short periods of time and banned in USA? Dorastar, hope you don't mind me asking on your thread.

If you're going to try another hrt you may as well go straight on it (at least the oestrogen. As you're spotting you may want to stop progesterone so you have a bleed). As stopping progesterone may cause a withdrawal bleed I think you need either the normal dose or nothing but not taking it every other day.

Anywhere I've applied it that has even the smallest insignificant hairs has turned into a jungle. Whatever the guidelines say I'd keep away from anywhere that has hair follicles even if it means adjusting the dose. Pass the scythe...

Hi ladies, thanks for your replies. Two years ago when I had spotting and was sent for a scan everything was ok and the gynaecologist said it’s the hrt.
She mentioned had I thought of coming off it. It had crossed my mind to see how I would be off it.
She suggested cold Turkey which I did and was fine for quite a while then the hot sweats came back with vengeance.
I started back on the same hrt but then another 2 years I’ve started with the spotting so it’s crossed my mind should I come off it again, but what’s the best way or try another hrt.
Thanks, Linda.

I've read it can do both.

But no, my E levels are pretty normal. My P is low. Which I know the NHS won't care about. And having trialled bhrt P I just can't get there. And utrogestan killed me off.

I think it's unbalanced and the fluctuations.

But yes, without heavy periods, why would they remove it all?

I've not asked about chem meno. I have an appointment this week. And I've privately booked a meno gynae for 3 weeks time.

I cannot go on in this living hell.

Hormonal imbalance causes the symptoms. If low P responsible for it, adding just P should help. If it doesn’t help I would look to different reasons, not P.

NHS doctors follow the rules, they don’t make any decisions themselves.

I was suffering because of low P in my body for more than 10 years, NHS didn’t care till bleedings became uncontrollable, but they didn’t think about removing my uterus, very simple solution, the source of progesterone was fitted to my uterus instead. It helped, NHS was happy too.

Have at least 3 doctors opinions before making any decision. I so hope you will find the way out of this hell.

Hi

Yes its for external use as well as the vagifem. I have lots of burning and itching. Trying Yes moisturiser today and oatmeal bath last night. Very slight improvement. Maybe I stopped too soon. I have interstitial cystitis so it doesn't take much to irritate that area

;D I’m so glad I’m not alone in doing these crazy things  ;)
I’ve put salt in hubby’s tea, sugar on my chips  :o and as for recycling - plastic in the glass bit, cardboard in the plastic bit and, as for the garden weeds  :o
