Utrogestan made me feel like a zombie so I dropped it as soon as I could - vaginally was better at half dose but g.p. became too difficult to pursue this. She offered me mirena coil which I would not use, or, synthetic progesterone. I asked for bioidentical version ( Crinone) as supposed to be effective and safer than synthetic, but she would not prescribe so she referred me privately as she said I would never get an NHS appointment. Been taking Crinone gel ever since without problem.

When taking the HRT Evorel Sequi patches could ovulation occur at anytime or is the bleed at the end of the pack of patches due to ovulation?

Clutching I know, but trying to figure out if I could still get pregnant one month after starting on HRT that was prescribed due to low FSH levels. TIA

It is fine to take the 3 day break post-meno. It is the 'old' continuous protocol. It might cause bleeding in some women (very light) but also might not.

I have tried a number of different magnesium products, and finally settled on thorne biglysinate powder (about 200 mg for a small scoop).  It helps a little to relax at night and doesn't affect anything else for me.

Before I also tried tri magnesium (around 300mg), from integrative therapeutics, life extension's brand neuromag (three capsules are around 150mg), which is magnesium l-threonate, suggested to me by a menopause expert, and life extension's magnesium citrate (which came in 100 mg tablets).  The citrate can cause diarrhea or cramps if you take too much, but helps with constipation.  I found that the brands other than the thorne powder could cause stomach upset at times if I took them right before bed, so I stayed with thorne.  Different types of magnesium have different effects, so it's worth experimenting a bit and seeing what works well for you.  Just be careful of which ones might cause diarrhea or stomach upset; easy to check by reading reviews, although not the same for everyone.

Sometimes I also still supplement with the citrate 100 mg if I need it's effects or I think I need more, but usually I just take the thorne powder.

You may find if you get on a stable dose of hrt for a few months, and it's high enough, that the palpitations go away.  That happened to me for 3-6 months before I needed to make more changes to my hrt and palpitations came back.  My practitioner says that a higher dose can even out the fluctuations of peri, if that is appropriate for you in other ways.  I think now that I'm stabilizing on a new dose again, mine may be disappearing again.

Thanks ladies for your replies!

Kara and Katie, yes it seems to be ANY change to my Estrogen (whether endogenous or HRT) that triggers the episodes, in either direction up or down! It's so frustrating because of course in Peri your hormone levels are just all over the place, and even when I'm not suffering from anxiety the palpitations make you feel as though you are. Kara how much magnesium and of which kind of you take, if you don't mind me asking?  :)  I used to take it but haven't in a while, so can't hurt to add that in.

Amanda that's very interesting, I wasn't aware of the connection and I haven't had a thyroid test recently - would the impact on T4 to T3 conversion cause potential hypo or hyper thyroid? I've been borderline hypo in a few tests and have a history of it in the family. I take Atenolol - not sure if that affects conversion or not!

Katherine yes iron levels are the one thing I know are fine thankfully!

Hi, thanks for input.
Yes, logically the bowel  bugs maybe wouldn't be in a sample.
It's just frustrating when my GP just sends a text telling me it's a mixed growth without possible cause. ( As you know not many of us actually speak to GPs these days )
I always wipe in the correct way.
I am on local oestrogen - imvaggis X2 a week . I was using Ovestin externally as well but it was burning so have changed to Blissel.
Would be nice to just have  one week without incident from the pelvic area !!
I also don't seem to have all the symptoms of a proper UTI and this has been going on and off for weeks so if it was one it would have got a lot worse by now without treatment.- that's my logic anyway ! It's more likely to be VA related but suppose that still doesn't explain mixed growth arghhhh :-\

 it's the time of year.  Had it fed?  I got to recognise them on my spaniel's coat, mainly white whilst they were running.  Or when they had fed, blue and bulky.  One dropped off in the bedroom carpet, 4 all I know it's still there  ;D

She never picked any up except in the Lakes, where they lay on bracken waiting for the next host to wander by.  Fortunately we never picked up any ourselves = Lymes Disease.  They are archaniads

Watching Repair Shop B4 going to feed the 🦔 s.  Then it's bath time  8)

hi Katherine

Yes i thought utrogestan builds up.  I seem to be fine then wham. I wonder if the 3 day break might reset the receptors or something. This is what led me to change to cyclogest but that obviously didnt work

i fancy trying the 3 day break but i wonder being post meno and on continous hrt if it would be ok x

Hi Discogirl,

I’m not sure what the regimen for post meno is. I’m still peri. I would ask your gp. It might say on the leaflet x
