Hi all. Been on Testogel for around 12 days and not sure if it’s a coincidence (life has been a bit tough of late too) but I’m very low in mood. I want to stick things out for at least a few months with the Testogel as I have a total lack of energy and motivation and zero libido, however I’m wondering if anyone else has had this as a side effect and whether it eventually wore off?

Hello ladies

joziel. -  A few years ago my Newson Health doctor suggested that I use six pumps of gel  and a follow up blood test showed that my Oestradiol levels were 600. At that time I was splitting the dose between morning and bedtime.

I am quite a small person and the amount of gel felt too much so I was switched to three Sandrena gel 1 mg sachets. The gel in the sachets is much less runny and dries well.

You may find that Sandrena sachets are a suitable alternative to Oestrogel pumps.

I hope this helps and take care.

K.

In a recent comparison, Aldi did really well for sunscream.  Better than amber solaire due to the higher UVA protection

Utrogestan is bad for my sleep too. I take it at 11 am now so it's mostly worn off by bedtime. I can get to sleep now but I always sleep for less time when I'm on it. You could try a normal sequi routine and see how you are, it might have been the type of progestogen in evorel which is a synthetic one rather than progesterone itself. And it could be it was from oestrogen deficiency. You could try Utrogestan vaginally in case it helps (it doesn't for me). I use long cycle sequi now which gives me more time off it.

I found lower abdomen the best. Tried top of thigh and buttock though it could be that they don't seem to stick as well there rather than it being an absorption issue.

Medical advice is to continue with it though if my period came early I stopped utro and started counting again so the two cycles kept in sync. If you have a strong cycle of your own it will usually override the hrt one, mine always did.

Thanks both.

As morning gone on it feels more like a period. it's flowing as usually does at start, and have cramping....

Could this be the withdrawal bleed for this cycle? At a loss to know whether to keep taking provera or not!

Hello ladies.

I have also found that either HRT only works for a short time or isn't particularly effective with my range of symptoms.

The highest dose I took was three one mg sachets of Sandrena gel and my Oestradiol blood levels were 600. I felt fine some of the time but other times I would feel tearful etc.
At 67 I am now using one sachet of Sandrena and Utrogestan orally, with the exception of some vaginal dryness my physical symptoms have resolved but my emotions are all over the place as usual!
I have been told by medics and my consultant that HRT doesn't help with the emotional symptoms and I would certainly agree with that!
I am aware of other women for whom mood changes have been a troublesome symptom and it is so frustrating that HRT can't resolve everything.

Take care ladies.

K.
