Hi all

So the last time I had oestrogel I had to pay privately at a clinic.

Can anyone tell me if GP can prescribe these now? I'm thinking of having a change x

Yes I have. I wrote over 2 months ago and he said he would get them. My GP wrote a month ago. I'm going to write again. It's shambolic. I have the diagnosis.  I need the extent of it and the surveillance plan going forwards.
Maybe they lost your test? It seems they are sent all over the UK now to central testing labs and not all come back.
I was told I'd get results for a test in "up to six weeks", I had sticky things in my hair afterwards from the sensors stuck on my head, it was a memorable test that my husband drove me to, he got us there early and he waited an hour for it all to be finished and for him to take me home again.
After the six weeks they changed the narrative and told me I had failed to attend for the test!!!
I never got the results, although I think they eventually believed that I'd been there :o

Was the qFit requested by the GP?
Yes, I've had abdominal pain since December, started waking at 3am needing to poo, now I only get semi-liquid when I go and I just can't eat. I've other issues that cause those sort of symptoms and I have put it down to being on medication, that was why I was pestering my GP wanting to change meds, got tests instead.
??    :-\.  She says I've to wait for my pack of laxatives in the post, then I can go on their list for possible cancellations, but mostly it's only dead people who cancel these days.  :-\ ?? 'she' said *that*! ? ! ?
No, she didn't say all that. The woman in the booking office said I have to wait for the lax pack before being eligible for the cancellation list, the rest of the sentence isn't a quote from her. I took that from what the radiographer said on the same day, he was talking about the orthopaedics waiting lists.
His words to me were, "You put an 80 year old on an eight year waiting list and well, (pause), they're not all going to make it, are they?".
I replied, "I guess it's a way of clearing the waiting lists, just not a very good way".
Our conversation went on as he xrayed my knee and I told him about a relative of mine, put on the list for a knee replacement when the GP estimated the old one would last another five years. At that time the waiting list was about five years, it's longer now and he said eight.
I'll try and be um, more clear about the details?

I would leave the vagifem for a few days if you can just to avoid infection. I had period pain for a few days. My bleeding only lasted a day.

Hi again Jules, yes I'll wait a few days before using Vagirux, it wouldn't be so bad if I had vagifem as they each have a clean applicator,  wth the Vagirux you only get one applicator that you have to clean after each use.

Also when can you resume being intimate ? Luckily my partner has been away a couple of weeks, I presume at least a week or 2 after ?
I think my advice leaflet said a week. Regarding your biopsy, I had a hysteroscopy in outpatients and it was absolute agony and the nurse told me afterwards that the doctor had to grip my cervix. I also had to walk out bleeding. No pad offered. My son's dog has just been treated better at the vets.

I can't believe you weren't even offered a pad, 😞 . Were you offered any painkillers or sedation ?
Same as you I had the gripper things for my cervix as she just couldn't get in there 😥
I'm still feeling really tender and bloated today and had right sided pain.

I wasn't given any pain relief. Id taken paracetamol before but they don't even shift a headache.  I think biopsy results depend on the efficiency of the consultant,  the lab they're sent to and what is being biopsied. I'm still waiting for gastric ones from November 7th!
I'm sorry you had such a bad experience Jules 😞
Can you chase up your gastric biopsy results ? That's over 5 months ago, that's way too long.! 😳

Pity the GP just won’t accept what another GP has already given you and you’ve been ok with.

This is what made me even more angry even when I had explained that my gynaecologist had prescribed Vagifem & Estriol to be used daily. What gives the right of another GP to over-ride another professionals treatment regime just because of a change of surgery, it shouldn't have made one bit of difference.

I will update the thread on how I get on without the Estriol as its nearly three years on from starting treatment.

To the person who asked if I had a plan, erm no not yet, still working out what on earth it all means.
Trying to shift some weight with sensible eating & exercise and jotting down symptoms & severity for now. Some days I feel fine, others not so much & some nights I'm losing too much sleep with waking up hot. I don't sweat much (never have) so I don't know if that's why my flushes atm are really dry/burning rather than pools of sweat iyswim.
Going to monitor it all for now & do what I can but if that's not working/manageable get knowledgeable about medical options so at least if I go to doctors I have some idea of what they're on about & I can say exactly how I am/what I've tried.

That does sound suspiciously like a plan though 🤣

Hi Dorothy Gale

I cannot really offer any advice on the burning but as an anxiety sufferer for years, I wanted to show support.  It sounds like your anxiety is aggravating the problem but I think you know that. I've worried so much over the years, worrying about the "what ifs", most of which have never materialised so I understand some of your distress. I would say, if you can reassure yourself that the burning is unpleasant but won't do you any harm then it may help reduce the anxiety a little and then possibly (hopefully) the symptoms won't seem as bad. This will pass and you will be okay. Hugs.

Hi again

Yes to no bleeding now and if I remember rightly that was to stop any break theough bleed (although confess have forgotten now).

Afraid I have to pay for it all (oestrogel, crinone, vagirux, ovestin androfeme, consultations) as nhs g.p "menopause specialist" won't offer anything as she does not like the specialist's advice even though she suggested them as the head of practice is a menopause bigwig ( president of the international menopause association and past president BMS).  So yes expensive!
